I would love to see you all sell me on a BRKT Fox River or similar tool.

What about them is special? What are the size of the handle (width)? What do you like about them?

Pictures are great. Give me your best!

Thanks,

TF

Right now, the only BRKT's I have interest in as 'bush' blades are the Bravo1 and the full tang kephart. I've already played with the kephart and liked it, but sold it (wasn't seeing too much use).

Some of the BRKT handles are on the small side...on the smaller knives.
They do make knives with larger handles.
The Mini C,Fox River,Northstar,Highland & ULB in this pic do have the smaller handles, but the rest are larger.
I was a little disappointed with the handles on the Fox River & the Highland at first, but when I actually used them, they weren't all that bad.

Not all of the models are for everybody, but you should find some that will suit you just fine.

They're made with good steel, stay sharp a long time, easy to resharpen when the time comes & they look good.
If you like convex edges, they come with good ones.
Decent sheaths.

What's the bottom one ?

IMO one of the best if not THE production fixed blades on the market. They are sharp as all get out, easy to maintain, beautiful and highly functional. The Aurora is one of the most comfortable knives that I have ever used.

The Aurora has to be one of the all-time best knives, IMO. As far as Bark Rivers go, if you don't like the smaller handles on the Northstar, the Aurora may be for you. Essentially, it's the same blade on a larger handle. Plusses are they come sharp, the conves edge holds it's edge for a long time and is easy to keep sharp with a strop. They come with really nice sheaths with firesteel loops, and holes spaced to piggyback with larger/smaller knives from BRKT and their baldric system

I believe I own the Ultra Light Bushcrafter Barkie in the picture above (the same one), and its a fine little knife.

I like the Snowy River personally.

I find the thickness of the Bravo-1 and similar knives to be a bit too thick for wood working. You can baton thinner knives unless your pounding through knots.

Can someone get me spine down shots of some BRKT knives and label them for me?

TF

I can only find this one right now. Top to bottom:
Bravo 1
Aurora
Nebula

The Aurora is a great knife! It is up there in one of my all time favorite knives, both looks wise and performance. The handle fits right in your and is easy to control. The sheath is great as well as the overall fit and finish of the knife. I have used it a bit for chores around the house and it has come through unscathed. I definitely recommend it .

Here is some of my bushcrafters:

Northstar
FT Kephart
Aurora

All three are great knives and would serve you well. I love the new FT Kephart, but the Aurora is great as well. The Northstar was my first and served me well, but doesn't get out much anymore because of my new purchases!!

I find the Aurora works in the largest of hands.

As does the Stainless Steel Nebula.

I agree that the aurora is good for those with large hands. My hands are mediums sized and I found the handle a little too large. My hand seemed to want to choke up on the handle due to the palm swell placement and it just didnt agree with me. The northstar is my go to "bushcraft" knife for day hikes and the like. It's light, tough, easy to keep sharp, and has a great warranty. The most comfortable handle of all my Barkies is the Bravo-1. I'd love to get my hands on a ULB but it's not in the cards right now.

AURORA! Simply the best...1 billion served and happy:D

As we were talking about here yesterday, Really any knife that fits you can be a Bush craft knife. If it were me, I would just get the most versatile and go with it. IMO of the knives shown here and discussed, I would go with the Bravo one Imo It's about the most versatile Bark River out there.

My Fox River magnum custom prototype is my favorite production fixed blade. I have three Barkies, two Helles and one Kellam. The Helles and Kellam are great, but for the forseeable future, the only production fixed blades I will be getting are going to be Barkies.

Except for the Becker Camillus made Campanion and Campanion blank I just traded into :D.

I got a Fox River Magnum from Tony and I love it. A laser, comfy and tough as nails.
