Sell me on the Paramilitary 2

I dig camo. If the Rat 1 had camo scales, it would win hands down. YMMV

With respect, my mileage varies considerably. There's no category (other than cost) in which I
can make a case for the Rat over the Para 2. The fact that it's made in the USA is just the icing on the cake.

I'm not saying the Rat is a bad knife--it's a remarkable bargain-- but IMO the Para 2 is likely the best designed and implemented EDC you can get for <$300.

It was hyped. I didn't believe the hype. I bought one. Now I know the hype was true. Get one and if you hate it you can sell it in about 30 minutes on the exchange.

It's popularity speaks for itself. The people on this forum are not the average knife buyers. We know what we like, we do our homework before buying, we appreciate the little things that make a $100 knife better than a $20-30 knife (i.e. Para2 vs RAT-1), and if there is a knife that is basically universally accepted as an excellent knife and is recommended on a hourly basis, you'd better bet that it's a spectacular knife. The para2 is one of those knives.

Sell you on the Paramilitary two... Hummm,,, well all I can say is the Para 2 is like a CRK Sebenza. Everyone needs to own one at least once in their lifetime. ;)

Everyone in this thread has already said everything I wanted to say about the knife - only they did it better than I would have. It really is just a great knife. I can't really see anyone buying a PM2 and being disappointed.

Not really; I'd hardly say that asking questions about a hyped knife I've never handled makes it "clearly not for you".

Its far from hyped, it is a successful, popular, excellent quality knife which has proved the test of time - no hype.

Questions such as "is it worth the money" and "what is so awesome about it" come across as dumb to edging on trolling IMO.

Yep. "Tell me about the para 2" is a good way to get info. :)

I don't consider the Para 2 to be hyped at all. It just works like a folding knife should, which sounds simple, but is not so easy to accomplish in detail.

The blade shape, grind, material, and heat treat, the handle shape and materials, the excellent, safe, solid, non-fouling compression lock, the low weight for its size, the pivot bushing and big opening hole, the solid frame and functional 4-way pocket clip.... Everything about this knife is balanced for real-world use. I use a knife a lot in my day job as a remodel contractor and woodworker. The Para 2 has replaced the other work knives I used to carry because it does it all, and does most things as well or better than the other folders I have used. These include the Delica, Endura, Stretch, Rat-1, and Deer Hunter from 1980. All good knives that do not score as high as the Para 2 overall. A work knife is like a decathlete that must do many things well, and this knife is the best I have ever used.
