Hi everyone,

I just received my new XM-24 flipper, and i am BLOWN AWAY at everything about it. I'm extremely impressed at how smooth it is for such a huge folder. I'm amazed at how easy it is to flip open using the thumbstuds let alone the actual flipper. There's NOTHING negative i can come up with. I really can't get over how well thought out the knife is. It puts every other folder i own (customs including) to shame.

ANYWAY... back to the title....what is everyone's opinion on the CF scales that can be purchased as an aftermarket piece? Compared to the stock scales, in hand feel? I'd really like to get it, but if it's similar, i'd rather put the money to some other things, like a new clip, Hinderer bling etc...

Thanks in advance! Pics too!

Well, without question the Hinderer carbon fiber scales are my favorite. Just to be clear, I am referring to the original scales that Rick Hinderer sells, not the aftermarket ones being manufactured by others. Initially, the smooth carbon fiber ones were by far my favorite. But, I also have some of the textured ones which I also like better than I would have thought (although they are generally similar to the black G-10).

Buy one, if you don't like it, you can sell it quite easily.

Regards,

Rich

Wait until Hinderer does a CF Frag scale. They are available for the 18 series, but I never got a response from Rob if/when they will be available for the 24's. Root'n for 24 CF frag

RDA- Yes, i'm also talking about the ones that a certain distributor(dont know if i can say the name) sells...they also sell the "frag ones too. Prob going to go ahead and buy one..

Hey ROCKETMAN....i'm going to have to look thru the picture threads for those on the 18...do you remember where you saw them at? Still liking that camo scale.hehehe:)

The Monkey Edge frag scales are nice, they are commissioned by Monkey Edge and are authentic Hinderer scales. I personally prefer the feel and look of the stock scales over the frag scales. The scales Monkey Edge sells are all authentic Hinderer parts and not an aftermarket part.

Smooth CF is where it's at! If you are already thinking about it, just go ahead and plan on it. You won't be happy until you do!

YES! The smooth ones are really nice looking...now i just need to find them in stock somewhere?

Is it normal to spend a butt load of $ on extras for our Hinderer's?:D

Are the Monkey Edge products MADE by Hinderer? Interesting take on the frag vs stock....i have a feeling i'd feel the same.

Btw, the CF scale is $100, but you can sell your G-10 for $40-$50 depending on it's condition.

I never understood why the CF knives cost $100 more than G-10. You can buy a G-10 knife and upgrade it to CF for $60 net if you sell the original scale.

Like the way you think.

That smooth version looks really nice...hmm...5.56, you might have convinced more than just the OP... Plus with your rationale, the blow is lessened.

Hey guys, quick update here. I finally got my smooth CF scale in that i ordered, and although i like it, i actually like the stock G-10 it comes with a little more. I also ordered some blue stand off's, and those add a nice touch. Anyone interested in the CF, let me know. I'll prob put it up for sale soon.

How does one order a CF scale from hinderer? I don't see them for sale on the website.
