Before I ordered he said it will take 3-4 months to deliver.
After 4 months has passed he says its delayed but will send pics as it is built.
Nearly 7 months now not even a pic so I ask for a refund.
Absolutely no response despite reminders.
I paid by paypal but they have a 180 day limit and so will not help.
As it was done via a credit card I have asked the bank to do a chargeback, I hope they will be able to do something.
But I am thinking of telling you guys not to deal with this bad seller, an absolutely bad bad seller am I allowed to reveal names ?

Yes, you can tell the folks here as I'm sure everyone here will want to make sure to be aware of this issue with this maker. Thanks for coming forward. 👍 I'm sure this will get moved to the Feedback forum eventually, where folks go to air their issues with makers and such. Good luck on getting your funds or custom Khukuri.

His name is Timothy McLaughlin of Dragonfly Kukri and Knives based in San Jacinto, CA
I paid upfront approx US$200+ on 4 Nov 2021, no goods received so far.
Maybe he played too much Crypto and got burned !
I really appreciate the info as I've been on his website and seriously thinking about ordering a Khukuri from the site. Thanks much appreciated.

I have 2 from him. The first developed a crack in the blade and it did take about 4 months to replace it. But he did come through. He is super slow I'll say that. He blames it on the shut down in Nepal due to Covid. Anyways hope it comes through for you as they are a nice combo when in hand. I have the Americana series and very well done. Zero grind to the edge and the sheaths are decent. stay safe

I dont mind slow but to indicate 3-4 months just before an order and not building it after 7 months and not replying when asked for a refund is not the way to treat a genuine customer. I paid US$294.08 for a Hanshee one of the most expensive on his site, promptly and without bargaining and i get a bad experience. My first online bad experience after 15 years of buying ! My theory is that he got hit when the financial markets went downhill, invested too heavily in crypto, so am now in deep financial trouble.

It is important to note, he is not making those knives. He is importing them from the makers in Nepal. So he can't do anything, really, if the knife is not made, besides email or call whomever is making it.

I have several Nepalese khukri from HI, and a no name generic one too.
Hopefully you get your refund.

What a weirdly specific guess as to the reason why someone hasn't followed through.. Not everyone is into crypto.. Do you have ANY evidence of such?
I did say it was a theory not a fact. You mist be aware cryptos have recently plunged dramatically, many got burnt, some became suicidal!

Exactly, and all the more reason it’s a bad idea to take money for something not in hand or the availability under one’s control.

He did fiinally reply saying his Nepal contact is sending him a batch of knives and mine might be in that batch. I said to him if its not in the batch, cancel the order and refund promptly.

He reason for not replying previously was hospitalisation.

Anyway i have waited 7 months so far and the i think i am more than fair.

If i didnt write to this forum i somehow think i would still be waiting for a reply ! Thanks all

When one buys online one always ends up paying first before the seller sends. Usually there is protection from paypal or ebay or the credit card co. But after 7 months paypal will not help, i did not buy this through ebay and the bank takes a long time to establish the facts. Finally i think pressure from a forum like this helps. Its a small world and the seller cannot hide

I would GUESS that most of the bad deals around here are drug related or straight up scammers.. nothing to do with crypto..

🚩

Stick with the charge back plan.

Tell him that, if your knife is in that batch, you might pay him for one.
