Hi all, I have recently started selling knives here and on a Facebook group. Only a few to cull out of my collection I don't cary and to make room for a new one or two. I have sold three here and one on the FB group and only have two more I want to sell. Of course each time I have received payment via PPGS first, then shipped my knives promptly--the same day or next, and sent tracking info right away. But on FB I had someone say they wanted to buy a knife but wanted me to ship first, then they would pay me. Am I off base for thinking no way, not in a million years? Or is sometimes that is how it is done. I thought that was the whole point of using PPGS and not PPFF, to offer the buyer protection, so the seller can receive payment first, then ship. Anyhow, any thoughts are appreciated.

It is your knife and you don't have to sell to anyone or under any terms you are not happy with. It is better to have no deal than to loose your knife or money. I wouldn't do such a deal with an unknown person on facebook. They can ask, but that doesn't mean you need to accept.
Normal is payment 1st, no matter what the payment method

I think you would be hard-pressed to find anyone here who'd expect you to ship your knife out first without getting paid. Over on evil FB, now that's a different story (as well as a different clientele altogether).

Way back in the day (before the interwebs), some dealers who sold through the mail might send knives to their best customers on approval. The customer sends payment if they keep the knife or returns the knife it it's not for them.

But that was a long time ago and only with proven, long-term customers.

No way should you send out knives today to strangers without payment first.
