New Platinum Member today, longtime BF browser.
I have read the rules for this Exchange however, if I make a misstep on this forum, I hope that you feel free to correct me with some compassion.
I am more of a knife user than collector.
I have sold on EB with almost 400 100% positive feedback, and I am rated a Top Seller.
I am constantly looking for knife deals so that I can upgrade my small collection.
Often, I find opportunities that provide me with a chance to "horse-trade" a pleasure that I learned from my Grandpa Chuck as a small boy.
I recently purchased several dozen Discontinued SOG Quake knives when SOG moved out of their factory in Washington State.
They are new but there is no original packaging.
I have been carrying one of these knives for about 4 months now and I have a few thoughts to share.
I love the assisted opening. It really makes a statement. It is super-fast and somewhat of a hair-trigger. This one, you will definitely want to lock when carrying. I had it open in my pocket and in my pack when I hadn't locked it. Neither incident resulted in injury but scared me enough to change my process when stowing this knife.
The VG-10 blade comes "shave-sharp" and although I haven't really worked it too much, the one I have been carrying these past 4 months remains like new in sharpness. I shaved some forearm hair with it this morning when I was composing this post.
At first, I wasn't sure how I would feel about using the knife finger guard for deployment versus the more typical thumb stud. In practice, I actually flick this knife open very easily with the fingernail of my middle finger. Doing this allows me to keep my thumb securely on the knife. More than one person has been surprised at the force of the deployment, which once led to the knife slipping out of their hand!
There is some bulk to this knife. I am often in slacks, and I wouldn't think about carrying it when in dress-up mode. All other times, the size, for me is more positive than negative. I know where it is obviously, and it is super easy to grab and go to work.
The Particulars: SOG Quake - Two Tone Clip Point VG-10 Stainless Steel Blade - Hardness: 58-60HRC - Aluminum Handle - 6 ounces - 3.5" blade length - 4.8" closed - 8.5" open
The Deal: The US pricing for these knifes is all over the map. I am setting my price at $160, well below the average that I have seen in the US market. Offers are welcome but I do need to make a few bucks to honor Grandpa Chuck's memory. I will ship to Continental US addresses using USPO first class. I prefer PayPal but VENMO works for me too.
I am listing a dozen of these knives with this post.
