I'm a gold member and I can upload photos straight from my computer without a photo hosting service. I always compress them first to help the BFC servers space. My camera takes photos that are a little over 6MB.

At the top of the home page, there's a header with "Paid Subscriptions" along with other categories to choose from. Select that category and it will bring you to the pricing for different level of memberships. You can then choose which one you want in order to sell. Gold ( I believe is $30.00 for a year) is the least you can purchase in order to sell.
If you choose this route, keep track of the transition number in case you have any issues. Go read the tech support sub forum for past issues. I renew using PayPal, but I believe there are other methods of payment.
