Guys - does it serve any purpose to delete prices when you sell something???

It really helps in research for pricing out new FS blades. People are more apt to list the sold-price lately, but it's still not enough. ESP. for rarely seen blades.

This is the only place I've ever seen it done. I love being able to research.

thanks!

Yeah, I would prefer them left alone. At ARFCOM it's the rule to leave prices in the ads.

Is it that time of year already Dennis:D
Couldn't agree with you more.

The last few times it was brought up it helped a bit.

I don't know the reason for the dogpile.

Unless people are worried about the IRS, I have no clue what is to be gained by erasing the prices.

I like to see them and thereby have a gauge of market price on items.

I can't recal the hobby rules but I need to look them up some day.

My all time "tax dream" come true would be to have an "active" trade or busines buying and selling knives and have it show a profit for a few years. Then "write-off city" here we come
:D

.

Leaving prices would be nice, if the seller wants to sell at a higher or lower price they still could and eager buyers are going to buy anyway.

I'm all for leaving the price up.

Anybody know how much that factory satin AK went for?

Usually the people that read and respond to this type of thread are the folks that leave the prices up. Those who don't...don't.

IIRC, there were a number of knives sold around the time of the last "please leave the price up" thread and I was surprised at how many people were still erasing prices. It was almost like the thread did not even exist.

I think prices should be left up.

What difference does it make? Are people worried that they'll get mugged because thugs regularly monitor the Exchange and wait for the high priced sellers to leave the house and jump out of the bushes to get them? What I just said don't make any sense and neither does not leaving prices up.

Thanks for bringing this up. :grumpy: I think the problem has been getting worse lately, I suspect a lot of new piglets think that hiding the price is normal. I have never had a buyer ask that the sale price be removed. I cannot believe that ALL the price deletions we see now are because the buyer asked for it, and if not for that reason, then what good reason can there be?????

Ya this one has been on the chopping block more than once. I always leave prices on my sales just to give others an idea of what the current market is doing. I like to see the same from others as well so I make sure I am asking a fair price for both the buyer and for myself. But either way to each Hog his/her own. Regardless, the knife will yield what it is worth in the market. ;)

Dennis, all I can do is keep my prices up. Which I do.

It's "to each his own," I'm afraid.

Easy answer.

Quote the add and ask a question. It's locked into the thread then.

Take that "sellers that erase prices"! :p
