There are so many manufacturers out there its impossible to know who makes some decent blades unless you buy them all and test them yourself. (which of course if I were rich I would love to do)

I mainly make practical bush & hunting style knives (Handle & Sheath) 5 inches and under. Price is irrelevant as long as its worth it. Open to any metal. Partial, full or rat tail tang works.

Please only answers if you have actually held the blade in your hand and have done business with.

Thanks Guys & Gals

There's a place that starts with a j and rhymes with pantz. I cant list actual names

They advertise in the back of "Guns" magazine (or maybe it's "American Handgunner"). They also seem to make blades with decent steel as opposed to other people on the net that sell blade blanks without specifying what the steel is.

Check out Gene Martin, a member here and he offers blanks. He's a good guy.

Welcome to blade forums, btw!

next question : ) who are some good online suppliers for blade metal. I see Jantz and Texas sell metal. Are they as good as any?

Aldo at njsteelbaron.com is the BOMB!!!! He will take good care of you. Give him a call and get some 1084. It is easy to work and easy to heat treat.

No.
Aldo and Chuck are my go-to guys. Both are makers in their own right, offer great services and prices, and if they can't get the alloy you want, there's a pretty good chance no one else can either.

wow thanks again guys. Ill check all of this out. Ive made a few knives already using blanks from ebay and Texas knife. Ill check out Gene martin on here and Enzo (which I believe is a brand not a person correct?) Ill probably work on a few more knives from blanks. In the meantime I will be doing extensive research on making them from Steel. Im going to check out njsteelbaron.com.
