Ive had the knife 5 days and its on its way
back to kershaw. Its making a rattling noise
when the blade is open. Sounds like possibly
the speed safe spring is loose. The liner lock just started to break in to dagonit.
I can tell already this might be a problem
knife. They should have desinged the lock
system better. Oh well time will tell. I
got the spyderco wegner back riding shotgun.
I love that knife.

I dont think the ricochet has a spring the assisted opening device is all torsion, kind of weird and scary when you think aabout it.......

I took my ricochet apart to fix some QC bugs, and discovered that the assisted opening is a torsion bar type set-up, with a whole lot of sticky grease inside the handle, where the bar resides.

I'm starting to really like this knife, but that darn thumb stud is a thumb killer; it needs to be more ergonomic, and the thumb-stud side handle needs an indent...

Your right about the thumb stud its down
right bad news talk about painful. Oh well
Im really starting to like the knife to.
I just hope there wont be more problems in
the future. Time will tell.

The rattle in question is just the torshon bar ,it has a calculated amount of clearence to reduce drag when loaded .The grease you refered to is to keep the torshon bar from rattling . so unless it just bugs you to hear the slight rattle, the knife is mechanically sound .

Hope this info helps !

Thumbstud definetly a problem. You should check out Onion's Boa when it is out. Finger guard sticks out top of handle just like Kit Carson's M-16, eliminating the need for the thumbstud. A truley awesome knife!
