I was just sitting here today, browsing through my modest collection of knives. I have some Spydercos and some Kershaws, along with the Bucks. As I perused the Spydercos (mostly in boxes) and the Kershaws (mostly in boxes) I realized that my Bucks were all out of the boxes, either in sheath or on display. I came to the conclusion that the reason for this, was that the Bucks were either being used or admired, far more that the other knives. Then I thought about my recent purchases. As 'Deep Throat' said in 'All the President's Men', "Follow the money", I decided to follow the money. It seems that in addition to the last two Custom Shoppe 110 knives I bought, I have two more on order, as well as being on the hunt for any Buck/Strider collaborations. As of late, all of my knife dollars have been spent on Buck knives. Why? I wanted an answer too.

One of the reasons that I like Buck knives, is that they seem to have reached the delicate ballance between form and function, or put another way, they look good and cut good too. Who can deny the beauty of a Custom (or stock) 110, not to mention the graceful lines of a 119 or the 'drop dead' good looks of an 889LE? Every time I pick up a 110, I know that I have a solid knife in hand, just ready to go to work. But there is something else that keeps pulling me to Buck knives, some strange attraction that I couldn't really explain until recently. When I re-read the 'Message from the Buck Family' that comes with each knife, I finally understood. Buck's 'Senior Partner' is my Senior Partner as well. So, I finally have my answer and will be collecting Buck knives exclusively and feel good doing it. ;)

Hmmm...I guess that I had better join the BCCI, fast. :o

I, my Brother, could not say it better.

I hear you, A.P.F. It's always good to read the note on the Buck paperwork. That Senior Partner is my Senior Partner too.

And, having been through the tatical knife phase I'm coming to appreciate the more traditional (and functional) charateristics of the 110 and other Bucks. Next thing I know I'll be buying slip joints again.

:)

Well spoken A.P.F.!

(except for the part about spydercos and kershaws) ;) (LOL j/k)

Better get on that BCCI membership ASAP!!! Its definately worth it!
(the best $$$ I ever spent)
Good luck.

I've said it before: you just can't beat a 110 or a 119 for the money. Sure, some of us like high end production/custom blades or knives that are over-built works of art, but when it comes down to using knives, the Buck product is a winner. You could go on many a hunt with these two knives and never actually need anything else. Of course, if you have the knife addiction like I do, it would be next to impossible to stop with just two pieces of cutlery. Buck knives are great tools which offer most outdoorsmen all the cutting power they really need for hunting/survival scenarios.

Heh, don't say that twice, PB. I have been eyeing the Buck 'slippies' for a bit now. I want to give my youngest Grandkids their first knife, but I guess I'll have to wait until they are out of diapers and playschool. :)

@ wh4f - Thanks, my friend. Yes, I am going to send off the money and paperwork for the BCCI on Monday. I confess I am quite excited at the thought of being a member. More Buck lore, I can't wait.

@ Stubai - I highly recommend the purchase of a Custom Shoppe 110. After all, we addicts love company. ;)

Your grandkid's mother may be upset if you begin hanging Buck knives in the crib. It's important that you do introduce them to knives and the proper use of them when they are old enough.

:)

and i have a anual sales slogan contest for a buck knife...
please feel free to look around and comment in any other threads!
here we understand buck feaver of two kinds...

I purchased my first Buck (a 110) a few weeks ago and was quite startled to see the Senior Partner comments. I took it upstairs and read it to my wife and son prior to our nightly prayers. Sage advice.

Come to think of it, it would be almost evil of me not to add to my meager Buck collection of one now wouldn't it?

Tracker: It is refreshing these days to find a company that still regards God as a senior partner. Sage advice for all of us.

Well said APF! And I will not tell anyone over in the Kershaw forum.... :p

Thanks, Messer. Yes, I just thought that I would fade away from that forum as I don't see anymore Kershaws in my future. Aw well, Dann will more than take my place. ;)

@ Decaf Dave - Thanks for the BCCI welcome, Dave! The cheque is in the mail, as they say. Now I am waiting on 2 Customs and some BCCI literature. I will be carving a path to the mail box. :)

To be honest, I have not been frequenting the Kershaw forum lately either. I'm kinda getting hooked on these Buck things.....

I hear ya. I only have around 5 on my 'must get asap' list. I think it will only get worse. :)

Well, all my Bucks are in their boxes or my top drawer, and my lone Kershaw (Scallion) is in my pocket. Still, I have more Bucks than any other make, and am lusting for a 419 as I write this (when are they coming out?). When I think of knives, Buck is what comes to mind.

Welcome to the Buck forum, Sharpshooter! The 419 looks like it is still backordered from most retailers. Sorry, I have no idea when it will be out. :(

I started with Buck many, many years ago, wandered off to some others (Benchmade, Chris Reeve, Lone Wolf ). But, something drew me back to Buck. Maybe it's because they got their start right here in San Diego, CA. (Wish they had never moved). And maybe it's because of the company's core beliefs. Whatever it is, I'm back. The prodigal has returned. And with a vengence. 5 Bucks in two weeks. And thinking about one from the custom shop. That's a pretty good start.

A.P.F./Messersmith, the Kershaw door is always open, in the mean time keep em sharp.

Hehe...thanks, Thomas. Rest assured that my Kershaws will stay with me.
