  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

September 11

Are the people who attack us dead? Who knows? We were attacked by a ideal which is just the opposite of what we try to live up to. Many people blame us for the attack because of what they call nation building but we were not attacked not for things we did, but for things we do not do. We didn't try to oppress our own people.

We must not forget and we must support our troops. This has not always been done.

Jim,

The ones who were actually in the airplanes are certainly dead. It's their like minded brothers that I worry about, and yes, you're right, there are a lot of people out there who want us dead. Those are the ones that I want to go after: kill that disease before it spreads ... before there's another attack on us.

We always have to support our troops. You and I fought in a war where that wasn't done, and we weren't supported. Thankfully, the American public does now support the troops. Imagine what would happen to this country if certain people had their way and our military were cut to nothing: America would die. We can't let that happen.

Remember Orwell's quote "We Sleep Safe In Our Beds because rough men stand ready to visit violence on those that would do us harm." That's just as true today as it ever was.

Semper Fi and God Bless America,

Bob

Very true Bob. This battle is not over and we might see and end to it in our lifetime.

We can only hope, and as long as we don't forget, there's hope.

Wouldn't that be awesome. No more terror.

Wow - I think we should dream about this one.

Many people blame us for the attack because of what they call nation building but we were not attacked not for things we did, but for things we do not do. We didn't try to oppress our own people. We may do some things I am not proud of - but I am staying put - because I think it is damned great here.

We must not forget and we must support our troops. This has not always been done.

America is many things Jim - not all of them I am proud of - nor would I choose. But you are right. We do not oppress our own people. If anything, we could be blamed for having TOO porous a border - TOO trusting. A crime I will be convicted of and plead guilty too I guess.

I fear the price of doing business as a nearly completely free country is that some will take advantage of that freedom. I think that was what cause 9.11

You got that tight, Not just 9/11. Abuse of our system is running ramped. It Ben Franklin feared that it would happen. He thought our system could only survive for moral people.

Well, on a good note, our Battalion conducted an NCO Induction Ceremony in conjunction with our 9.11 Remembrance...it still chokes me up every time we revisit that senseless and cowardice attack. As to those outstanding young and new E5's, what better way to commemorate why we fight: not for politics, definitely not for money...but for Freedom, each other and to prevent future attacks on our loved ones back home. It was one of the better Induction Ceremonies I've been to and quite fitting to do it over here.

We have averaged a few "ramp ceremonies" every week over here. Our troopers continue to sacrifice their lives for a greater cause. You all can sleep safe because there continues to be some of the finest men and women doing violence to keep harm from coming to our shore. Keep these young trigger pullers and door kickers in your prayers.

As much as it pains me to revisit the destruction that happened 8 years ago...I never want to forget; there are and will always be evil people in this world and we will always need someone to keep them at bay. I thank you all for your continued support and prayers for all the service members over here. Don't forget our brothers and sisters to the North; Canada continues to be a tremendous ally as do the Brits and other Nations.

God bless,
ROCK6

If your looking for a way to honor this day check out www.operationfirstrespons.org they support the wounded Heroes who have answered our call to arms and the families that support them. This organization has a site on Youtube as well. God Bless America.

Just heard a cool old Russian saying that is fitting to this thread:

"If you keep one eye on the past - you are blind in one eye. But if you forget the past - you are blind in both eyes."

We should never enter into war lightly. The deaths of 4,000+ of my brothers and sisters in Iraq is a high price to pay. It should be calculated with care - I am not sure it was.

Agree 100%. We seem to have forgot who was to blame. Two years after 9/11 69% of US citizens believe Sodom Hussein was involved. That is sad.
