September 2024 BOTM | 663 Alpha Guide, MagnaCut, Twill Carbon Fiber Handle, Kydex Sheath

Still my BOTM wish list:

- Anything in the 300 Series with at least S30V steel and long pulls.
- Burlap micarta on either a Vantage or Marksman or Paradigm or Spitfire or 112 Slim TRX or 300 Series.
- 112 Slim TRX with ebony or dymalux.

Please No Cerakote on any of them.

Throw in an orange Buck Knives hat for the fall.
Good idea! The orange Buck Knife hat would be a really nice addition to the BOTM for the Fall.

I want a 934 small paring knife with a flat ground S30V and an orange, high texture G10 handle with a flap over sheath because cleaning these pigeons with a 110 or small game isn't ideal.
We've got teal and woodie right around the corner.
Gimme a knife I'll use that I don't already have.

Update - Forget my idea. Apparently I purchased an ErgoHunter Waterfowler Pro in S30V with a flap-over sheath. I don't need anything this month...lol

That sounds fantastic to me! I don't even care what the blade steel is - I'll take it apart and put in the blade I want. A burlap, or even canvas Micarta Marksman would be incredible.

This September Buck of the Month is an exclusive 663 Alpha Guide, limited to a quantity of 500 units. This fixed blade hunting knife features a Tungsten Cerakoted, full tang, high-panel flat grind, MagnaCut stainless steel blade. The handle is a lightweight and stylish twill carbon fiber, featuring machined-textured handle scales for extra grip and indexing. The handle scales are fully removable, allowing for simple cleanup after camp work and hunt processing. The theme continues with a carbon fiber-patterned Kydex sheath that locks firm and is configurable for multi-position carry via an adapter plate.

Cerakote on a stainless blade? It's not abrasive resistant, and you're not doing it to protect the stainless steel from rust. You're doing it for cosmetic purposes? And it's only going to look pretty until someone actually uses it. I'd give you a pass if it were blaze orange, because that may actually serve a purpose to a hunter, but grey? C'mon... I wonder what Chuck would think about the "function follows form" methodology you've adopted since his passing.

Well, it's only $15 more than the Elite.....( for those of you looking for an excuse to purchase one).

Maybe I'll wait and buy myself one at Christmas.
😉

If you don't want or like Cerakote, save $15 and purchase the Elite version. The Elite version has the same steel, handle shape (G10), kydex sheath.

The BOTM is limited to 500 made, carbon fiber handle, pattern on kydex sheath. If you like the Alpha Guide, and don't mind, or even like Cerakote (God forbid !), for an additional $15 you get a limited edition version (although, my long standing rant, 500 is not limited).

Could you elaborate please?

Don't need no one to tell me how to spend money... I'm a pro! lol

If you're going to cerakote a blade, you dony have to spend the time and effort getting the blade properly tumbled, cleaned, and polished. Cerakote is a money saving shortcut. If it wasn't, they wouldn't do it. It's also a way to hide blemishes in the steel making waste less. Also a money saving step.

It's not technically covered under the lifetime warranty, because it's cosmetic degradation resulting from normal usage. Saving money by not having to warrant the shortcut they're taking to get knives on the shelf.

So, for that $15 more, your getting less. And that 500 piece exclusivity is absurd.

Keep feeding the monster.

Now... I'm not saying it's not a great knife. I'm simply pointing out that since undoubtedly, 500 people are going to spend a premium and send the message that shortcuts are okay, and we'll gobble them up as fast as they can churn them out.

If I'm Buck, I'm going to do a BOTM on the 1st of every month, and a stealth run the 15th of every month. Since we're cerakoting everything, it'll be a piece of cake to get them all done in time.
