September Shop Gathering September 26th

IT was great to meet you too! You picked up some great JK steel too! I am pretty sure you'll be back for some more fun.

I did not leave until after 5pm - I think that is as late as I have stayed at a gathering, and I was there at 8am!

Good times -

I laid out some of my knives - just for showing to the folks that attended -

and I laid some out on the "for sale or trade" end of the table....

He had these cool cross-draw holsters for knives - very well made and beautiful!

Brad had this unique knife - it was a "well made" Japanese knife made for cutting lead for stained glass windows. It was a good one. ;^)

Brad also had a very nice selection of trade items, some very unique stuff!
D71_4031.JPG

Bob was showing off his Christmas Bonus knife that was given to him from his Boss in the knife business. The knife was a very nice JK with white linen micarta with contrasting liners, fancy pins and stainless steel. Great stuff!
D71_4034.JPG

Uncle Bill brought his son, Willy - who seemed to fit in and have a great time!
D71_4036.JPG

Uncle Bill always fits in!
D71_4037.JPG

We had beautiful weather - mid 70s and breezy - just perfect!
D71_4038.JPG

Another shot of Brad's "trade" pile.
D71_4041.JPG

I brought stuffed peppers wrapped with bacon, naganalf's wife made a delicious pasta salad, Bob's wife made an excellent potato salad, outdoorsfan brought cupcakes and almond bark, Brad brought some fresh smoked salmon, fresh bourbon, and chips, and uncle bill brought some awesome tater tots with jalapeno and bacon. Then, John and Connie provided hot dogs and buns - we all ate very well. There were also abundant barley pops for all.
D71_4043.JPG

I asked darkmatter to see what he could do for a sheath for the Knatchet - that had him pondering for the rest of the gathering lol
D71_4045.JPG

naganalf (Flanagan backwards) was nursing a broken hand, but he still could open a knife and a barley pop if necessary!
D71_4046.JPG

Danny had generously provided John with a fine prize for the attendees - which John held a drawing for. The prize was a cool Cold Steel Spear point - it was large and VERY sharp! Cool stuff
D71_4050.JPG

And the winner was.....
D71_4051.JPG

Willy! He would not put it down after winning it!

Thanks much to Danny for the great prize, very nice of you sir!

The day wound down with much commiseration, horse trading, an auction or two, and just good conversation and stories.

Thanks to John for another great gathering, and to all for their friendship and sharing of food, drink and stories!

I look forward to many more events with my JK Friends!

This was probably one of the best ones yet, way too much food, great trading, and great conversation! A special thanks to Danny for sending such a great prize, you really need to make it to one of these!

Best group of guys to hang out with since my seminary school days! I am a bit hung over as I tasted a bit more whiskey than my normal Saturday and washed it down with some very nice & unusual beers! I was in the unusual position of not having to drive so I took full advantage! Sorry if I got loud!
Got home to find that I was missing my Herter's compass, my Kershaw Launch, my Japanese hatchet with special blue handle wrap and my Chinese automatic. Did however find in my box a White handled Case xx knife with a bright red log shield, a SAK tinker with very nice wood scales as well as a Zulu weapon of mess destruction. Do recall making a nice Side deal with Naganalf also (his wife's pasta salad incredible!). Outdoor fan brought a tray of sweets that were sinful! (what was the stuff that looked like chocolate peanut brittle?) Johns wife wasn't home so we were able to really enjoy the pole dancers for a change. Andy's grilled stuffed peppers were even better than advertised, as were the other bacon wrapped goodies present! Anyway, see some of you again in Michigan!

That's a long 12 hour drive for me, one way..:( .. I'll have to live vicariously thru pictures.:)

A word to Uncle Bill, Willy is one of the most polite teenagers I have ever met, plus he is interested in the same things we are. You are doing a great job raising him, he is more than welcome anytime!

Danny - thanks for providing the prize!!! My son was thrilled. You have inspired a new knife enthusiast.

A great time was had by all. I wish everyone could attend. Always a good time.

I hope anyone and everyone would attend our Michigan gathering. A whole weekend makes it worth while.

Sounds like everyone had a blast, like Hickok45 says on YouTube, life is good.

Looks like a blast, guys. If only I lived but a little closer...
