Man, I'm having a heck of a few months for fortuitous coincidences...
1) I finally get back into the SCA, to find out that the current Baron of the Steppes is not only a blacksmith/bladesmith with a generous streak, but a self-employed Lighting Designer!! SCORE!!
2) I wreck my bike two weeks ago, necessitating a 911 call from a nearby bystander, who turns out to be a professional metalworker and welder (this I find out when I went to pick up my mangled bike from him, last night)! He graciously offered to assist me, when it came time to start welding on my propane forge!! DOUBLE SCORE!!!
3) I put one of my recent pieces into an auction at work for the victims of the 911 attacks, and it's bought by a fellow knifemaker and machinist!! I'm hoping to pick up some tips from him... HIGH SCORE!!!!
Man, the omens are lining up...now, if I can just stumble over an old Peter Wright lying half-buried by the creek, next time I'm down in Corsicana...
BTW, if anybody wants to help me make a self-fulfilling prophecy, and just happens to know of a 150-200# anvil that's in good shape and going semi-cheap, gimme a yell! I'll even do the burying at the creek, so's I can stumble over it...
