if you're talking about love bites from a knife, then yes 'd say they are inevitable and, in a way, necessary to teach you the proper respect for a blade. i'm sure we've all nicked ourselves from time to time. i did it quite recently in fact.
i'm reminded of teh Terry Pratchett discworld novel Hogfather.
Death (as in The Grim Reaper) has to dress up as Santa to satisfy the plotline.
while handing out presents, a little girl asks for a sword.
Death gives the girl the sword to the objections of her parents: "You can't give a little girl a sword!"
Death: "WHY NOT? IT'S EDUCATIONAL"
Parents: "She might cut herself!"
Death: "THAT WILL BE A VALUABLE LESSON."

if we're talking about animal bites on the other hand, then as yet, no i havn't been bitten too badly yet except for the odd redback spider bite.
i'm in Australia, so if i get bitten, it's most likely to be from one of these:
or these:
i'm about 1,000 kms from teh coast, so getting bitten by one of these is unlikely:
getting bitten by any of these is not going to be nice.
