great finds! that big butcher looks like it will be a great chopper once you get an edge on it. they would also be good candidates for a rehandling job too.

I could lie to you....seriously..what if I want to sell them..then I am a profiteer asshat..:D
I got a good deal, I didnt know that until I got home a googled the lot, but the Marbles and EVERDRY are pretty collectable. Gene

I have got to get out more to yard sales and flea markets. Unfortunately most of the flea markets around here and just a bunch of tables selling new junk.

Great finds.

I saw what I always look for..the guy with the table full of glass cases..filled with entirely to much old stuff...lighters and compass's galor....I saw the matchcase..and then..under some stuff..the Marbles...I was pretty happy.
I left behind all types of small collapsing cubs and compass's..small containers and lighters. tons of great items..the guy had good taste.

Same here. It's all new garbage at prices that aren't even better that your average department store. I miss the flea markets from my youth where you could find row upon row of used, antique, dirt cheap stuff.

I'd just call that butcher a machete and try wacking stuff with it for testing. If it holds true, then I'd pass along to Siguy for some convexing magic!

I`ll have to have mom look around the gun cabinet. Dad had an old brass compass just like the pinned to his hunting coat, and I know he bought it long before I was born (1966). Who knew anyone collected compasses?

Thanks for the info on the matchcases. Didn't know they were pricey. I see them from time to time. One of the butcher knives looks like a Dexter. What about the large one? It looks old. I like that old carbon steel. I Wilson knive? Loosearrow

The big one is a Chadwick, and the other 2 are Dexters. I am not sure yet, but I beleive the compass is very early..right around 1910 or so...the print in the compass is much simpler than others I have found online...yet not "new"..I am still looking. Gene
