There's no excuse for Microtech and Boker, however... The 770 is a completely different knife from the 777, and I can't really think of it as a substitute for Kershaw releasing a production version of the 777. One is a linerlock, while the other is a framelock-style, then one is a smaller knife vs. the other being a much larger one. Lock mechanism and handle size are two among the most defining aspects of any folder's sense of personality, and while I think the 770 looks to be an excellent and beautiful knife on its own merits, it is, sadly enough, no production version replacement for the 777.
