why take the whole site down instead of posting a one liner saying no blades currently available on the order page? just curious.

ugh, i posted this question when i could reach no other conclusion myself. i hate drama, in all its forms! can we now assume all hogs are DRAMA-QUEENS? seriously, and i mean dead seriously, after waiting this long for the FBM to become available would anyone in their right mind think it needs more drama?!?!?! like i said, ugh....

It's down because the damned web guy is drunk on his pooper. Besides, you can rest assured that the Bastid Cobalt has already bribed the beautiful Amy-O for the first 100 and they will be going to him.

The second 100 will surely go to the Skunk.

That will leave at least a two week wait for you to even think of smelling Infi.

The hollowed ground around the trough is beginning to rumble and shake with the accumulation hooves........

What, you guys can't get in to order the FOLDER? Must just be open for HOGS. I get the third 100 of the FBMs, make it four weeks until the rest of you get to order!

because the majority of the pages that are up arent going to be remade (as in new pages with new urls), they are going to be modified. if you left the entire website up but only changed the order page adding the one liner stating that you could not order anything at this time, you would have to remake the entire website at a different location. you would still have shut the entire website down temporarily in order to move everything over to the old url's.

unless you then wanted to make a new page every time with a new url, leaving the old ones up. while this is possible, i cant help but think that it would add to the confusion of the 1 to 2 knife production set up, as well as becoming cluttered and akward.

shutting the website down is like shutting off a building when your going to renovate it - most of your customers wouldnt want to see the chaos if they had the option.

edit to add: when the website is changed, the only pages that stay the same are the handle option description page (unless they add something), the gallery page, and contact page. everything else is changed to reflect the new model.

Actually the staff IS just DRUNK!! Pure and simple. After Indy and the "micro" they had just about had enough. So they pulled the plug on everything and started drinking.

As long as they got BOOZE- they will be "DOWN" !!! :D ;) :D

Because it is Jerry's business and he'll run it how he pleases. He seems to be doing a great job after being in business for many many years, I think I'll trust that he knows what he is doing

:D:D

Eric, I think we're with you on that. :D

seth,
thanks for answering the question. seems totally reasonable after you explained all that. makes me feel a ton better to, i was really hoping it wasn't just silly gamesmanship considering how long many have been waiting for the fbm...

sorry, i have no idea how to connect this response to the question i asked. is asking questions ok around here? there is simply no need to be defensive. even if the answer was one i didn't like i would still think positively of busse overall and would still definately be buying knives from you guys. i assure you, i understand that jerry knows what he is doing, i wouldn't be this stinking anxious about a knife if that weren't the case!

You can still get to the forums....

http://www.bussecombat.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

I'm sure that the defensive tone of some of the responses is because lately there have been those who have not-so-tactfully brought up "that's the wrong way to run a business" threads.

Have patience kids, don't become a

Ryan,
I wasn't be defensive, I was being honest. I don't go into a store that I shop at and ask them questions about their business practices, I don't call Porsche and tell them how to do business. I just don't do this. Manufacturers and merchants that have been in business for years don't need my suggestions on how to do it better (unless they ask) I don't presume to know how to run their business better than they do. I may not always agree with their decisions but they obviously have their reasons.

In addition ,we are not privy to all the inner workings of Busse Combat, so I think it would be completely arrogant for me to try and "guess" why the website is down.

I'm sorry if I came across as "gruff" but honestly Jerry knows what he is doing. I had no hostile intent in my post but what good would the website be if there are no knives available anyway? All the info that is on that website and more can be found on these forums, the Busse Website forums ( http://www.bussecombat.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=1 ), or on www.badmojo.tv

:D:D

eric,
well, i see what your saying, i just don't see the world that way at all. i ask why basically all day long. if a business has things i'm interested in purchasing, and has a problem with simple "why" questions (in contrast to attacks) then i don't do business with them. many would call that a "red flag". i would not charactize busse or any other of the good knife manufacturers who participate on this forum as behaving like that, and would go further to say that is kinda one of the main reasons for manufacturer involvement in a forum to begin with.

now that i understand your reply, i would ask this; what is the point of answering a question post by saying you shouldn't ask the question? i have never understood why people do that....
ryan

**as an aside, i'm definately in the camp that believes busse sells knives like they do because they are good at business, and anticipation, drama, mixed with legitimate fear of never being able to get a product later ensures demand like nothing else.

oh well, back to waiting....
someone, PLEASE BRING ON THE FBM!!!!!!!

Ryan, hope you took no offense and a big welcome to you!  In my own noobie experience, all non-troll questions (such as yours) are welcome here. There's a lot of humor here as well, some so dry it's way over my head :D :D . The grins are meant to soften a slightly defensive tone because our esteemed Moderator Thatmguy's right. I'm a noob on this stuff and didn't put the grins in where they belonged! :D :D
My apologies and take care, (Now I'm tired from grinning too much!)

darrell, don't worry, none taken. i may not have many posts (hours of residency have been brutal) but i read this forum like stink and know it is a great group of people.
