  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Serrated blades

I like a serrated bread knife, and I like, and use, my serrated Spyderco Salt knife. Other than that, I've no use for a serrated blade.

I echo Mannlicher: The only serrrated blades I have a use for are Bread or Steak knives. And I really don't need a serrated steak knife.

I like serrations either for utility or for ferocity.
Here is what is in my pocket today. Serrations on this Combat Troodon, like my Spyderco Civilian, aren't there for utility ;)

That said, for 95% of people who aren't OCD about their edges, a serrated knife will probably never need to be sharpened, especially with a high quality steel. I have a set of $20 steak knives that my family has been dragging across ceramic plates for 20 years without regarding their sharpness. They'll always be sharper than my teeth ;)

I only like serrated blades on Multitools with a plain edge primary. SOMETIMES a serrated edge is nice, but MOST of the time a plain edge is much better.
