I agree with you.
Serrations have thier place. I was originally against serrations, then my bud got a SOG Seal with serrations on it. I was trying to cut a piece of leather Lead line, and my knife (it was razor sharp) just wasn't doing it. He whipped out his knife, and was through it in four strokes. I think this illustrates your point nicely. Although I personally prefer a plain blade for my folder, the fixed blade I am planning for myself has serrations, because I feel they will come in handly.
