Serrated vs. Plain vs. 50/50 (Blades)

IMO, if you're only gonna carry one knife 50/50 is the way to go. Use the serrated portion for the crap jobs (like hacking through cardboard) and save the plain section for finesse work. I personally carry one of each - truely the best of both worlds

I would like to add that all this depends on the length of a blade, at least for me. I do have partially serrated fixed blades (more than 7"). But I wouldn't want 50/50 edge on short blades (most folders).

Another point: partially serrated doesn't always mean 50/50 serration, could be 40/60, 30/70, etc.
