The best - SHARP plain edge!

I have a serrated blade on my Leatherman Wave and I must say that after 8+ years it is still as sharp as when it was new and it has never been sharpened! Of course I should also add that the reason is because I never actually use it. I do use the plain edge, but that is easy to sharpen and I keep it always 'shaving sharp'.

PE here. Serrations get in the way more than they help (for me). Towards the handle is where I do all kinds of fine work, and serrations get in the way for that type of job. If they were available at the tip-end instead, I'd definitely get them over plain edge.

Buy an Opinel and give it a quick sharpen (only takes a minute or 2 on a strop to make an Opinel 'scary sharp') and try that on your tomatoes. I much prefer the sharp Opinel to the steak knives for slicing tomatoes.

i hate serrations. except the ones on my rc-6. most combo edge knives i've handled, have had a serrated part, and an almost chisel-ground plain edge. the esee serrations don't affect the bevel of the rest of the knife, and work just fine. being able to sharpen it like a plain edge helps, too.

My RC5 is serrated, only because serrations have helped in the past with cutting wood using a dull knife. Long story, not a Rat Knife involving 2 weeks in the woods in college. After have my RC5 and using it my next Rat Knife will be plain edged.

I did not say SE was the all time best ,I have 90% PE ESEE knives but I do have a 3 & 4 that have SE and I do like them as well.
I do not own a SE folder.... all folders are PE

Sir, I beg to differ! I traded you a CE Delica! So, indeed you -do- have a serrated folder... or, did, at one point.

I like the look of the serrated better but I can go both ways. I mean I like either way, urr ummm. never mind you know what I'm saying!
