Make the serrations before the heat treat. Afterward the blade is too hard. Use a round file, and with the blade edge facing you in a vise, push twords the blade edge going only in one direction.Make sure that you keep the same angle for all of the cuts you make with the file.You can vary the size of the serrations by varying the sizees of the files you use.
