Can someone recommend a person to sharpen some of my knives? I looked in the exchange forum and I could not find a list.

I also would like a few of the knives buffed up to take out some scratches. The types of knives I am looking at are the following.
  • Some Vintage Bucks (121,124,Kalinga, 112, 501). These all need the TLC of an experienced knife sharpener. I am not looking to re-profile edges, etc
  • CUDA Talon 1 (Talonite) that has sheath scratches on it.
  • Kitchen Knives: To be honest I tried to sharpen these myself with a Spyderco Sharpener and I need to have someone fix them and make them sharp. The knives are made by Global.

Thanks for the quick responses. Buck will sharpen a knife from the late 70s early 80s? I am looking to make the knife as pristine as possible and it may need a regrind (bent tip, broken tip). I inherited the knives from my Dad and I want to get them in best possible shape to eventually give to my sons.

I have already PM'd Richard J and it looks like he does great work.

I agree that you should sharpen the knives, but I think that you should leave the scratches and wear marks alone. If these were your dad's knives, you should keep & use them as he had, not buff & polish the knives so they no longer look like they were ever used.

I have some knives from my father, no way I would ever remove any scratches or patina off of them.

Buck will not only sharpen them, but refurbish as well. Ask on the Buck forums, and you will get many examples of amazing works done.

I will get information from Buck and Richard J.

I am also considering what CWL mentioned about leaving the use marks on the blades like my dad used them. I will get the nicks and bent tips fixed however.

I would send them to Buck with a note of what you want and that they are personal items so they wont replace anything. They will fix them up beautifully for very little money.

I got some knives from my dad, lot of them was used and he leave the history on every knives he used. The history pass through me and will pass trough my son. I miss him every time I see the scratches or use it and my son will remember me like that.
