I don't know about any of you but I find I get used to certain things. You notice when you don't have your wallet or knife clipped in your pocket.
Well I've been carrying a Delica since 1998 and to be honest I've tried other blades but none seem to carry as well for me. I guess I've gotten used to it. Good thing it's a great knife. With the change of models I even went as far as to make sure I always had a Delica.
(Yeah, there are a couple of Salts in there but they're the same size)

Anyone else out there go get backups when they find their favorite model is discontinued? I didn't buy all these at once. It's been over the years I've picked all these up.
No, they aren't the only Spyders I own either. ;) :D

I try to get backups of my favorites, even before they are discontinued. It is nice to have one to show and one to go. ;)

damn, thats a really nice collection you got there. any plans on getting adding the D4 to your collection?

Actually I've only handled one D4 and that was at Blade before it came out. Sal was nice enough to let me check it out after I showed him my Delica that I'd been carrying everyday since 98.
I might pick one up. I'd have to check one out again. Not too many knife shops around here.
Never say never though.

Glad I'm not the only one who really likes the D3 despite the fact it barely fits my big mitt(when I put my first 2 fingers in the large choil I can get a 3 3/4 finger grip on the knife)

I have one in use, one used with a tad too much vertical play to my liking and 3 NIB spares(from which one is a blue ATS55 one). I would like to have more though, to be set for life as well;)

No matter what knife I try to replace the D3 with, I always come back to this little bugger.

It must be those fearsome teeth.;)
If you don't give out constant loving it might bite you! ;)

If you

Try a Calypso Jr or Calypso 3. Same size as the Delica, but fits the hand like a bigger knife because of the finger choil.

I am with you 100% only mine is the Endura. I don't have pics of my spares but I have been carrying one since 1992 I think. When the E4 came out I bought a "few" E3s because at first I liked them better. Now I have 6 E4s that are floating around too. The Endura is perfect for me.

Yes you are. I tried that once, but I ended up discovering that there were too many knife models that I felt I needed a life supply of and it was getting crazy.

Now, I just keep one of each of my favorites.
Although, about monthly, I'm tempted to buy a "backup" of one knife or another that I'm feeling particularly fond of that month.

Yeah, it can go out of hand:o

I'm the exactly the same, besides the Delica's 3/SE:

3 Dodo's/SE(could use a few more;) )
2 S30V Military/SE's(thinking about buying another one)
2 VG10 Endura/SE's
3 G10 Rookies/SE
3 SS Crickets/SE

I've seen this picture before... I think it was while looking up the definition of knife knut!:D

Nice little army you got there. There was one point in time where I considered buying every BM Bluestar that I came across for the same reason. Wow, I just made myself sad. Anyone have a spare Bluestar or 20?

Right now I'm carrying one of the Salts. I'm happy with it. I have only found a couple of occasions where I could have used that really pointy tip that the Delica has over the Salt. But it's not really an issue.
This is just the perfect size for me.
I originally carried an Endura starting in 96 or 97, I can't remember. It was when the Endura still had the molded clip. When the 98 models came out I was pleased. Not because I dislike the molded clip but because I'm left handed and the new ones were ambi. I got a Delica and never looked back.

I have a couple of older Spydies with G10 and metal clips but haven't a clue what they are. They're Delica sized. Nice little blades as well but not ambi.
No pics though.

nice collection Paradiggum....
u talking 'bout the Standard? (G10)....
I've got a few Salts and Delica4's .... like u said ....it's a perfect EDC size...along with the CalypsoJr/Caly3 size...

Agree. As one of many examples, my boys gave me a Caly3 for Christmas. It is a beautiful knife. I'd say it's a better, better-made knife than the D3. But the D3 continues to ride on my waistband where it's been for years...

I've tried to buy backups ever since Spyderco discontinued the Lum Chinese Folder without first obtaining my permission.

I now have 3 PE S30V Natives and will have a new ZDP Chinese folder as a primary EDC with my green VG10 as a backup.

paradiggum, any chance of posting a picture of those in the open position?

I've been away for a couple of days. I'll see if maybe I can get a pic this coming weekend.

No fully serrated edges. There are a couple of combo edges and plain edges.

Okay as requested here's a pic of them all with blades open. I also added the other two carbon fiber handled knives that I'm not sure the model name.
