SFNO coating

Hey Guys I am keeping my #18 SFNO LE and want to have it coated with either Walter Birdsong Green T or have it IOn Bonded....what do you guys think?
 
Do I cry :( or barf :barf: ? Just Kidding Whatever floats your boat. What is Walter Birdsong Green T? Is Ion Bonded any better than DLC?
 
Why wouldn't you get a regular sfno that is not nearly as rare and have that done?
 
Ion Bond is suppose to not leave any kydex marks or leather wear on handguns and is suppose to be extremely tough and resistant. Birdsong would make a nice match with my tango 51....

i cannot sit back without chiming in here. Dude. Your knife is perfect..why coat a satin blade? It is akin to spray painting your new car. Find a CG knife...anyone. Beat the living hell out of it and recoat it if you like. Just an opinion.

Go right ahead. Increase the value of my knife - soon to be 1 of 299.

Really, why would you do that to a limited edition? Think long and hard about it before you do.

That finish is by UpArmored. 12Bravo has an SFNO they did for him in digi camp and it came out crazy!

As for changing the LE...if it's going to get beaten like it stole something, might as well make it what you want. It won't matter to anyone else because no one else is gonna use it.

I'm thinking of sending one of mine away for a little customization. Good thing for me, however, is that I happen to have an extra original sabre Minty fresh, so I don't HAVE to use an LE.

Btw...this LE is a limited edition version of the original SFNO. It has always been 7" in length, and abt .22" at the spine. There were a few thicker sabres that mic'd out at .27", but good luck grabbing one.

I think the IONBOND is going to wear better (be more resistant to wear) than the Birdsong.
 
Go for it knifecoop. Don't listen to the playa-haters. There's plenty of these around, and customizing it isn't hurting anything. I havn't seen ionbond on much, so I can't say. What color ionbond are you thinking of? The black T-coating looks pretty sweet, and I agree, the black G-10 handles look really nice. My only request is that before you send it in, whatever you choose, that you open it up for other Hogs to jump in. You may not get many takers, but there is sometimes a discount for sending in more than one knife, and it's easier to do them in batches rather than one at a time. Who knows, I may be interested in trying this out as well.

Jason, would like to know what you're thinking as you contemplate options. As you know, I was thinking of customizing one of these as well. I'll have to wait until they land to see if I want to actually change one or not, but one idea I had was to send it to Ban for him to make some black liners to go under a spare set of SFNO snakeskin scales I would supply, then have him convex the edge. I PMd him a couple weeks ago but never heard back. What are you thinking?

I agree. why do you want a G10 handle and coated blade on an LE which you paid a premium for specifically for the polished blade and tiger micarta handle?
