SFNO coating

I agree. why do you want a G10 handle and coated blade on an LE which you paid a premium for specifically for the polished blade and tiger micarta handle?

well he would actually be paying more getting a saber (flat too) SFNO off the secondary market. also, it's his knife to do what he wants with

Exactly. He paid way less than secondary market price for a much-desired knife which hasn't been sold again since 2004. The original sabres don't come cheap.

I like the idea and if you have'nt got a sabre ground combat grade and are sure a combat NMSFNO would'nt feel as good....go for it. If turning what is for you an ultimate "user" from a collector's piece gives you more satisfaction....it's your call. Have you held a combat NMSFNO first though?

I guess it really depends on why one bought an LE. If one bought the LE just to hold on to, either with thoughts of collecting or selling later, then keeping it minty would be best. However, let's not forget that these are hard-use knives. Those of us who bought at least one for usage would do best to do whatever necessary to make the knife exactly the way we want it. Think of all the SHBM's and SHSH's that have been nodded regardless of value because the owner wanted the ultimate user. If that's what KC is doing, then more power to him. These things are beautiful, but they're still tools, and whenever the owner decides to sell, they will still get top dollar because they're sabre SFNO's. Hell...an original just went for 800$ on the EE this week.

Edit: George, I'll email ya. Still thinking on this.

It is your knife...do as you like.
I think the green-T would look cool...maybe similar to this one I have, which I really like:

Thanks to KH for the pic

Why not ask Garth to coat it before it leaves the shop?

Absolutely no changes to LE knives according to Jerry and Garth via Amy. The LE's are what they are.

This is the second different time I've been told this, however it seems to me I read somewhere recently where someone had hadbthe slabs of an LE thinned in shop by Garth. Hmmm...

ETA: George, EE means equipment exchange. Or the sale forum.
