It seems every year I miss this sale but this year, with advance notice I had it marked on my calendar. Unfortunately, like an idiot, I set a morning meeting on the same day so I didn't get there till noon.
No worries, there were still some amazing bargains left.
First up was a red, numbered, Kiwi. $35. I've liked this knife for a while but since I seem to lose every non-clip knife I buy I've held off. But a numbered version (first 200 are numbered from what I'm told) for 35 bones, that's a no brainer. The red bone may be a little "milky" compared to some of the others but that's all I could find wrong with it.
Next I grabbed a paramilitary for $30. Plain edge, black on one side, regular on the other. The helpful salesman guessed that it might have been an engraving gone bad. A little fine grit and it'll be a great worker.
2 P'Kals. Not really my kind of knife, but you can really appreciate the build quality, the ball bearing lock is too cool. Never seen a knife lock up so tight. If there was something wrong with them, I can't find it.
Three Natives @$15 each. Grind line on the swedge was off on one, the other two had a little roughness on opening, going to work just fine in the tackle box and in the boat.
The buy of the sale, IMO, was when they marked down the T-Mags to $20. I grabbed 5 of these stocking stuffers. What a cool knife. I guess the grind on the top of the knife is the tough part of production on these because no two seemed the same. Not, OMG bad and if you weren't looking for it, would probably never notice, but it was there. The rest of it though, man o man, carbon fiber, titanium, light and strong. Definitely a keeper.
Round out the basket with a Spyderwrench, a couple presentation boxes and an XF stone and it was a nice little haul.
How'd you do?
