SFO's of Clarence Risner

Kvaughn

the Fredrich Olbertz factory produced knives for many different companies so you’ll see similarities throughout a lot of German made knives.

Needed to add Eye Brand knives made after 1993 were manufactured by Olbertz

Is it possible that those Indian Head stockmen were made in the same factory as Fightn' Rooster knives? They bear a very strong resemblance to one I have.--KV

All I can tell you is what Clarence told me.... the Indian Head and Jim Bowie pocketknives were made in the same factory as the Eye Brand. Now if Fightn Roosters are also made there I do not know. I'm not to sure which German factories own/make which tang stamps. But I do know Clarence sold many Roosters and had a web site just for the German knives. Perhaps Austin will come explain all the different layers?????? ;)

As promised, here are just a few flyers from over the years that Clarence sent out. I tried to just post the ones that had his SFO's, as he did stock all the other Queen lines along with other brands. Even have one where he announced that he just got a computer and will be starting a web site soon! I do have a more complete list of Clarence's SFO's and will post it here in the next couple days.

I bought several knives from him, and it was a pleasure doing business with him. John

Yes John! Clarence was THE straightest "shooter" as far as knife dealers go from back in the day!
Gunstock Jack has taken his place for me now.:)
Clarence was never pushy and he bent over backwards to accommodate every customer that I have ever talk to. Oh, he could be hard to get along with sometimes, but who can't?;) I don't believe I ever had a phone call conversation that lasted less than half an hour and many much longer and we didn't just talk about knives! I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person but we became good friends over the years. His knowledge and experience in his chosen profession was vast and he taught me a LOT!!

Here are Clarence's Jim Bowie German made knives that I have but the 1st knife is an Indian Head Stock knife, Stag like has already been posted so I snapped the pile side because the Stag was better than the mark!o_O A large and medium stockman in this post along with the Warncliffe :D

That's some really interesting & nice jigging on the last Congress Dave.

Yes it is different Tim! :) I have another pattern where the box is marked "Red Brick Jig" so that is my assumption for that Congress also. ;)

Here is another of Clarence's Congress patterns, this one from 2001 they are 3-3/8" closed. It seems like to me there is a lot of the same blades being duplicated from many makers associated with this pattern. I do wish they would use more than 2 blade shapes in a 4 blade pattern. This pattern has 2 Sheepfoot Mains and 2 Coping Secondaries. o_O Many other Congress patterns, like the three I will post on the Queen thread have 2 Pen Secondaries.
This Pearl is the only knife I opened all 4 blades...... but all the rest have the same blades.;)
