Whew! Its a good thing I took my high blood pressure meds this morning or you guys would have killed me. Man these are nice knives! Thanks for sharing.

and the only reason the trade was made was because I own this RS beauty

I have long been a Curt Erickson fan so both Bob and I are happy campers. RS also know I want to find more interesting pieces from him in the future.

And I was fortunate enough to pick up the Loveless style (blade reference) Erickson boot knife in the attachment below, to replace the traded Erickson. Murray and I were sure on the same page with this trade!

Hello guys! Thank's for sharing this pics here, and all the great comments that followed. I'll use this opportunity to show pics of some works made last year, hope you enjoy it. The bowie was forged in the same way of the chute knife, with several twisted bars and sections of bars welded togueter. All the knives made with turkish damascus and it's variations are welded togueter blades, but it's as integral as any other damascus patterns.

This full integral classic bowie with 9" blade was forged in turkish damascus, composed of O1/15N20 steels. To make a bowie with such a large pommel, without sacrifing the balance is a real chalenge. As I wanted the knife to be full integral, the only solution was to forge weld a hollow pommel, this was a very precise forging work... As the result, the balance is perfect! The knife was completed with coin edge spacers, outstanding mammoth scales and dommed pins. A delicate file work on the pommel and the guard/collar area finished the work. The sheath is water buffalo leather, with ostrigh skin overlay and damascus tube on the strings.

Cheers!

Absolutely outstanding work. I love the construction in forge welding individual parts you can achieve. Thanks for the roughed out picture. Super cool!

Rodrigo, thanks for the images/explanation and, for the record, the chute is beyond description, in my opinion. I certainly am glad it landed in my collection.

Best, Bob Betzner

Thank's guys, here's some more integrals:

This bowie was forged in Merovingian damascus pattern, composed of O1 and 15N20 steels. Completely integral, the blade is made of 6 bars, and the whole knife has close to 20 bars on it's forging. The double horizontal tang was assembled with desert ironwood, and the guard/collar section was hand filled. The sheath is water buffalo leather, with alligator skin overlay and damascus tube on the strings.

This integral knife, with gaucho inspired design, and 5 1/2" blade, was forged in explosion pattern, made of O1/15N20 steels. The elegant blade, with delicate false edge, run smoothly trough the filed worked collar and the double vertical tang, finished with a ironwood handle. The sheath is water bufallo leather with ostrigh skin inlay.

This litlle gaucho utility knife was forged as a birthday gift to my wife Glenda. The blade is 5 1/2" long, in explosion pattern, forged from O1/15N20 steels. Full integral, the knife has an ebony handle, assembled in the double horizontal tang with keyhole design. The sheath is water buffalo leather with elephant skin inlay.

This 7" bladed integral gaucho knife was forged in Gordian Knot pattern, made of O1/15N20 steels. The african blackwood handle was high relief carved, with scrools and leaves, adorned with delicate piqué work of 18K gold. The sheath is water buffalo leather, with elephant leather inlay.

Thank's for looking.

:eek: WOW Rodrigo! EVERY one of those knives is EXCEPTIONAL.

Thanks for explaining your forging process and posting the pictures.

It is a pleasure to see your knives.

Peter

Rodrigo's work is so extraordinary,so unique, so beautiful.

(It's also very discouraging)

Non-damascus types taken out of the mix, let's keep this primarily a Sfreddo thread, now that I think about it! Sfreddo's work is stand-alone stuff, in my opinion.

This Chute is so fine, it deserves to be edited into the bottom of this thread, not just the top, as I close it.
