Sgian-dubh

Thanks for putting that up!
That's really cool- I get a lot of requests for those, and even though my Mom is a highland Campbell I barely know what it is. Have to make some one of these days, that's a really nice one!

Very nice. I bet your client will be thrilled with it.

It looks very good and going through the pictures shows it involved planning, special abilities for the casting, and being able to do very good work on one like this. Frank

Wow that is a a piece of art. I will be... Ahem, I mean would be extremely happy with that!

Nice work. It's not easy to make a sgian-dubh that is both original in design, and traditional in feel.

I love seeing Sgian Dubh's posted. Nice work. Was your client planning to wear it on his belt or more traditionally in a sock (hose)?

sock, which is why the sheath has no belt loop

I couldn't see the back, but was just curious. You might want to mention the possiblity of rust if they do intend to wear it. About 4 years ago, I made a Stag Sgain Dubh for myself out of W2, and the backside completely rusted after an all day festival in August. The salt in your sweat will do havoc if your not careful, as the leather is resting against skin on your leg. I didn't think about the fact that it could have rusted so quickly, and I am a knifemaker :( Just more for CYA advice.

The billet was about 72 I think.

I will be including a care and maintenance sheet which includes things like use Hoppes gun grease for rust protection, don't store it in the sheath, never dry or power sharpen etc.
