ayup, that's what we have here... a giant! the spec sheet reads out:

22 inch 50.4 oz (3 lbs 2.4 oz) BAS CHIRUWA by sgt khadka

handle material is the usual hill walnut, standard bolsters thank you very much :) and silver fittings of course.

ah, but wait. it's a BAS with a chiruwa handle? what ho! that's kinda fun.

the brass inlays are nicely done, and the chakma/karda are well done and sharp. speaking of sharp, this bad boy is RAZOR sharp. the finish is somewhere between mirror and village. it's interesting. there's a bit of polished spot near the bolster where markings would ordinarily appear, but nothing... so, it seems a bit odd to have that polish - it's distracting from the rest of the blade. oh well. maybe down the road it'll even out, or i can try.

you'll notice in the picture, the other BAS, that specs out as:
15 inch 20 ounce horn handle villager BAS by Sher

bit of a contrast, don't you think?

haven't testing it out (yet/ever?) but it's a beast. the handle is quite large, but it fits my hand well. what can i say? big hands big heart. the box arrived in 2 days flat. zoom, though the extra weight cause the box to implode slightly (gravitational attraction?), yangdu's excellent packaging and wrapping inside saved the day :) perfection.

so, a big thank you to auntie yangdu for securing this for me, as it was something of a special request, you sharks can rest easy :>

Very nice kuk you got there bladite. I don't think I have ever seen a BAS over the normal 15", so it really makes this one unique. Hill walnut is one of my favorite woods offered by HI, and it looks like this one is no exception; simply beautiful.

Congrats on such a beast that is also a beauty.

Nice. I suggest you put some finish on the handle, because I have found that the Sgt. does not put any on. The wood is just polished up real nice.

But this can lead to handle shrinkage and makes the tang stick out from the handles.

Most of mine have this condition and I have to grind the tang down smooth and finish it with some danish oil. Maybe finishing it first will prevent the shrinkage.

Eric.

If I can't have all the Khadkas, I'm glad someone else can have one. :) (to channel yogi berra)

Great news, thank you

damn you bladite :grumpy: !!!
that thing is SEXY!!! when are you going to send it to me :) j/k
congrats on the snag and dont cut yourself :D

Sometimes khuks can't pigeonholed with a model name.

So instead of an oversized BAS, maybe it's just a big honkin' cool unique Sgt. Khadka khukuri...

Love the pommel flair he puts on. The guy is a real artist. They're as pretty as Kumar's but with a completely different style. He has a better eye for wood than some, too....

Really nice. Keep it well...

Nice! Those are close to big Ganga Ram specs, but with a chiruwa handle and nice SoS. Very cool!
