Welcome. I now have 12 khuks, one is a chitlangi I bought from Steve that has no handle. So I'll be doing one of those soon. Right now I'm focused on my dad's present GRS (18").

Sogguy, I got your drawing. I hadn't been considering doing sheaths for others as I still feel clumsiness in my work. My stitches aren't right yet, for example. I've got lots of grinding to get to also. Sarge says sometimes that he doesn't want to turn his hobby into his job. There is wisdom there. I'm just not sure I'm ready to start taking sheath orders yet. I'll let you know though and I appreciate the vote of confidence.
Steve, I can not wanting to lose a hobby, Sarge is very wise. Your thoughts on the "D" ring concept?

I think you were replying to me. I liked the D ring concept. And a sling. There are some really nice belt blanks at Tandy I've been eyeing for an over the shoulder thing. Howard carries his that way and there is a picture of one on Terry Sisco's site too. I would change my sheath somewhat for that carry though. Just because it would hang horizontally. Once I practice with the tooling I'm going to do a rig that way. I just wanna tool a nice wide (~3") sling that ends in some kind of clip. Then make a sheath with rings much like your drawing.

Andy, sorry for the id mistake. I have used Tandy straps with Chicago screws for some of my cross chest carry things, to lazy to sew. With light wieght items I use narrower straps, I have an old tankers pistol holster that I have a wider strap on.

Now if you want to get yelled at, jimmyjohn or spectre are the ones to poke at.

Shucks. Don't listen to Jerry- I'm more likely to lecture you to death. :D

John, I try and listen to everyone. I spent some time in Augusta, there used to be a local watering hole called the 19th hole right across from the bus station, spent a week there one night.

Hm. I know where the Bus Station is- took Greyhound down to see my folks in 'Bama right after Christmas/birthday.
spent a week there one night

Heeheehee.

Andy, ya wanna describe what you got in mind here?

If you're thinking of tooling it as in "Leather Carving" then you'll need to back the leather with paper.
The brown wrapping paper that is used for most everything works real good as a backing.
You'd need to use rubber cement on both the rough side of the leather and on the paper as well. Let it get almost dry and then align the paper over the leather and press on *With Absolutely No Wrinkles!!!!*
If it will be inside the sheath it probably won't need lined with anything but there are several variables such as how much rubber cement you used, the humidity, the application or use of the final product.
If it doesn't matter that the paper wears off and the inside gets a little sticky then you're fine.
But if it does matter that it's sticky inside you may have a problem.

When tooling anything as wide as three inches with any overly degree of tooling the process of tooling the leather will stretch the bejeesus outta it!!!!:thumbdn: :(
The paper will prevent that.
