Avoiding the obvious discussion of steel (I feel I already understand those differences), does anyone have any opinions on the functional differences between the SH-E and Ratweiler? I'm hoping for info such as balance, which is a better chopper, prying differences, spec differences, etc. Comparison pics would be cool too.

Thanks all.

:D

Troy, let me know if none of the Hogs admit to having a RW for comparison. I can hook you up, but I'd like to see Bravado post a review of his RW first. :D

Team Alpha to Brown Leader, Team Alpha to Brown Leader.
The LeatherMan is down. Repeat, the LeatherMan is down.
We need a new sheathmaker here ASAP.
Team Alpha clear, continuing with assignment.

I ordered a RW about 3 months ago, so when it comes in I might be able to give you a review then.

You should see it in about two weeks gimmejr! :D

I have both and have used both a bit. The SH-E has more miles on it, but the RW gets carried around a bit more since I have a cool Semper Paratus rig for it. :). They both chop like crazy. I personally like the clip point of the RW over the SH-E and the SH-E handle over the RW for comfort. Just my personal feelings. Maybe if I got them both out and did some side by side work, there might be more of less differences in them to me, but I haven't had that opportunity.

The two are pretty similar. I like the feel of the E-handle better. I've been carrying the RW more because it's new and I have a cool Progunner sheath for it. ;)
Here's a pic of the two.

"...still shakin', boss" ;)

Thanks for the input so far guys.

A few pieces of info from my notes:

SH-E: Length=13.0625", Width=1.625", Blade Thickness=.269", Blade Length=7.5625, Weight=19.125 oz

RW: Length=13.25", Width=1.8125", Blade Thickness=.25", Blade Length=7.625, Weight=19.625 oz

I'll post pics later. INFI aside, I think I like the RW more, but I love both, so it doesn't really matter. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm willing to bet the that SH-E is the better prybar due to the extra thickness. I like the blade shape and width on the RW more. The polished spine on my SH-E looks wicked. The larger choil on the RW works better for my oversized mitts.

That's it for now. More to follow.

I have to admit, the RW is a fine knife for the price. Had one once but sold it to buy more INFI. Don't have a SHe...yet. Since I got my mitts on an Ergo handle, I now know what Jerry was thinking when he came up with the design. The feel of the Ergo just makes you want to go chop something. I may have to get a BMe and SHe to complete the set.
