Shadow toothpicks?

I've got a set of stabilized blue dyed giraffe bone that's long and skinny. I've settled on a shadow pattern toothpick, stainless liners. Anyone got some shadow toothpick pictures for me to look at?

I know that Ken Coats has made some shadow Toothpicks. A quick search will turn up a bunch of his old for sale threads in the exchange that still have pics in them.

Thanks, saw some great pieces by Mr. Coats. His are noted as having a "sunk joint." What is that?

Any other examples?

John Lloyd has made quite a few toothpicks/rib ticklers. There are lots of photos on this forum of his work.

A sunk joint means the run up does not stick up above the frame of the knife,
Not all of them I make are this way but a fair amount of them are.
Ken.

jkf96a, the knives in the attached photos below are not Toothpicks but they show the difference between a knife with sunken joints and a knife without sunken joints.

The knife in the photo on the left (click to enlarge) does not have sunken joints. The square part of the tang sticks way up above the handle.

The knife in the photo on the right has sunken joints. Tangs are flush with or below the handle.

Here's a Coats 4.3" shadow toothpick with a sunken joint in stabilized buckeye burl. I love this thing.

So I started this idea back in November. Finally finished the knife this week. You can tell I wasn't in a hurry :) The swedged blade and spring are CM154 stainless steel. This knife also has 410 stainless liners and 416 pins. It's got a smooth, medium pull with a crisp half stop and good "walk and talk." The handles are blue dyed giraffe bone, buffed to a high shine. I chose this design primarily to take full advantage of the size of this set of bone. Closed length is 5", open length is 8 3/8".

Nice work!! It has great lines!! I'd be mighty proud if I could do that!!

No kidding! That looks awesome! I've always wanted a knife with blue bone just like that for some reason. Great job!
