Shaker Village Hike

Piliated woodpecker for sure.I have seen them do just what those pics show myself.I have also witnessed 2 of them fork over and destroy a fresh cut stump in 2 weeks and as mentioned above it was full of ants.

Gunknifenut,

I am actually near the MA border in NY. The pics were taken near Hancock-Shaker village, Pittsfield, MA. N. Adams is 20 minutes away!

No kidding...I used to drive out to N Adams to hike up Greylock...I started my southern hike on the AT through MA there when I was 21! We live about 2 hrs apart! Can you say knife show!!! Shaker furniture and carpentry is a study in simplicity...they had alot of patience for people that didnt get it on!!! :D

Gunknifenut,

Cool, I hike Greylock sometimes, its beautiful up there isn't it? We'll have to hook-up sometime...

Right Esav, the woodpeckers are the 'woodchippers of the forest', and look at all the great fire starter they leave behind!

I used to live in Lee, MA then Pittsfield, then North Adams; small World this internet eh?! Hiked all over Greylock and North of there too. Camped at most of the State Forests in the area too.
