Dear Members,

It has come to my attention that the Emerson Forum was on the verge of being shut down due to the lack of participation of EKI. Let me say this about that; We are still alive and thrashing about.

I don't want the forum to shut down and I don't believe you do either. It is a lively canvas where all things Emerson can be discussed.

The reasons that I have not been personally involved on the forum are these; Every question gets answered by any number of people on the forum already, who are clearly knife aficionados, or are very familiar with Emerson Knives and or the Emerson Knife Company. I would merely be repeating what others have already addressed.

As to being busy, you're damn right I'm busy. And contrary to what Steve Rice may say, I'm way busier than most. There is no "retired" by my profile. And comparing me to other knife company owners doesn't work either, since I run a manufacturing factory with millions of dollars in machinery and dozens of employees to manage on a daily basis. We are not a, "clearing house" for knives that are merely ordered from Asia and shipped out of a warehouse. And in fact, do you really think you are actually talking to the owners of various companies on different forum sites? Answer that one for yourself. On top of all that, I actually own and am running two other corporations, Emerson Enterprises LLC, Emerson Brands and in addition two other businesses, The Black Shamrock Combat Academy where I teach and Emerson Custom Knives, which I hand grind and build each and every one.

As to having plenty of time to chat on forums where I am "adored", I'll just call that outright bullshit. Even on the USN, a forum that was started about Emerson Knives, I only post 1 or 2 times a year. I'm definitely not getting "stroked" by anyone on that forum, in fact I'm not even there to get "stroked" even if I wanted to. I really like it when people say things about me or make assumptions or assertions about me when they are just pulling them out of thin air.

So where I'm going with this is, I think the forum serves a purpose, more for you than for me, as it is a place for Emerson Knife owners and users to get together and talk about a hobby or subject that they truly enjoy. But, I will not tell you that I am going to be an active participant on the forum nor will I deceive you by having someone else posting on the forum while using my name. What I will do is appoint a moderator(s) that will be able to respond to vital issues and important topics, having an intimate knowledge of my knives and my business. And, if there is something way out of hand, bring it to my attention as needed. And yes, I will continue to make announcements about new products, new books, new articles, shows, appearances, classes and seminars. If anyone thinks that is a bad thing, you should come to one of the above and see how many of your fellow Bladeforums brothers are in attendance.

If these conditions are tolerable to you then I will go forward. If a consensus of you do not think these parameters are o.k. then I will not go forward. If you want the forum to continue, the moderators that I will appoint will be very knowledgeable, fair, honest and just. After all, with all the beatings I've taken over the years, do you really think I've only been concerned about being in places where I'm in a comfort zone? This forum has certainly given me my share of lumps over the years. Has anyone ever shut anyone down for voicing an opinion? If it ever has happened, it has never been because of me. I think the forum should continue. Post your thoughts.

My Best Regards,

Ernest R. Emerson

Sounds good to me. Thanks for filling us in on what is going on. A moderator is a wise decision. Let's keep it going!

I shall continue to thrash about!

Missed ya at the NYCKS last year, my hand remains unshook. Maybe next time :)

As I said on the other thread, I like this forum how it is. It seems to moderate itself as opposed to some of the other subforums.

As a business owner I don't know why you would spend a lot of time posting on these types of sites. You've got to do what you feel is most productive with your time and this is just too much drama and not enough benefit. I'm sure when you go home that the last thing you want to do is spend time on a site like this. I don't make knives all day long so coming here is a good unwind for me.

So to sum up: I vote yes for the moderator as long as it's a hot young female intern from the Emerson factory. :)

I don't think it's an abrasive nor argumentative topic. We want an Emerson forum. It's very much wanted.
Personally I just discovered your knives and I would very much like to come here and discuss/show mine off with other members here. I truly hope you do appoint a mod or two so this place will still exist.

I fully agree with your reasoning behind not being a presence here. This is for us, the fans that use, enjoy, and continue to seek out your work.

I hope the decision to move forward with this sub forum is made and I know I'm not alone in that.

Good wishes to you and yours Mr. Emerson:thumbup:

Mr. Emerson,
Thank you so much for your reply and for your willingness to help keep this forum going.

P.S. Gus says hi!

Very fair. Look forward to more reading on this brand sub forum. Thank you Sir for offering to keep it from an archive death.

Glad to hear Mr. E as I said I have the upmost respect for you and your brand, a cqc-7 saw me through 5 years of active duty in the Army, so no disrespect was meant by my post, glad to see it will stay alive , God Bless Mr. E. after what you did for Mr. Kyle's family and Jesse Ventura you got a whole lot more respect from me...

Yes, please continue. 2014 looks to be a great year for fans of Emerson knives.

Ernest,
Thanks for checking in, and being good enough to appoint a moderator to keep this place going. I've been collecting knives for a number of years now, and I have just begun my venture into the world of Emerson Knives. I ordered my lefty drilled and tapped CQC-7V with satin hardware 2 days ago, and I'm about ready to do the same for a CQC-10. It will certainly be helpful from an information perspective to keep this forum running, from a personal financial perspective...maybe not so much  :D

I would like this forum to continue, I enjoy it very much. Thanks for supplying moderators Mr Emerson, hopefully it will keep this forum alive.

That's awesome, I'm going to buy a new Emerson just to celebrate.
