I was in at my cutler today and picked up a Ka-Bar BK-11 with belt clip.
I needed something to carry out with my other hand :) so I thought I would grab a Kershaw Shallot. What a decent knife! I purchased the stainless plain edge variety and just wanted to say how nice this knife seems to be upon initial inspection. It's smooth, locks up solid, everytime and seems to be very well made. I use my knives a fair bit in the kitchen on watermelons, pineapple's, meat, etc, and I think with the shape of the blade it should be able to hold it's own. Good job on this one Kershaw.

Indeed its great. Especially when you get into higher end ones like the damascus, composite, and s110v versions. I own a composite and it is soooooo great.

I really like the Shallots. I like them a lot more since I got the low ride clip for them. The all but disappear in you pocket.

Nice deep carry clip Flash! Is that your own work, or are they STR manufactured?

+1 on that - where you get 'em? I have a Shallot, and I'm not sure if I'll keep it or trade for a Leek. I love the feel of it, but the "high-ride" carry position of the clip is a little too high for me. I like low-riders on everything.

thx - cpr

I have 4 of them. :D

Rainbow, S110V, ZDP, black damascus.

They all get carried, used, and used some more.

The Shallot is an excellent design. For me, it replaces the Storm II as an all-metal framelock that can take on any kind of work, and even better than the Storms, it's slimmer and easier to carry.

The blade shape is a close match for my favorite small fixed blade, the Dozier Arkansas Toothpick, both great slicers.

It's not fair. Kershaw always has too many great knives. :D

Its worse then that. Not only do they have a lot of great knives but FAR to many of them are at my kind of price point.

+ a million. It's so addictive, whatever I wear, I always have a Kershaw/ZT on me. I spend most of my money on the sharp things
