Spydiechef.
I am not a fan of the shaman... but it should be a better beater if you plan to hard use your knife

otherwise for classic edc go Spydiechef, it is very thin, cheaper and I prefer LC200N over s30v at Spyderco

Which one you guys like better, Shaman or Spydiechef?

I think they're both fantastic knives, But couldn't be more different from on another.

If you want a lightweight titanium framelock for EDC (and basic foodprep), That has fantastic cutting geometry and is virtually rustproof. ...Spydiechef!

A robust everyday edc/heavy use work knife that has a unbelievably strong lock, Beefy nested stainless liners with ergonomic contoured G10 scales, And thick blade stock for hard cutting /piercing. ...The Shaman is the one.

Get both!

For what purpose?

I've got them both but don't carry/use either. Not because I don't like them but because I prefer to carry/use others.

The Shaman is an enlarged Native w/a 3 5/8" vs 3" leaf shaped blade that also weighs about 1.5 oz more and has a much fatter handle (than the Native5 G10, which is the most comparable Native variiation in terms of construction) that makes it less comfortable to carry in your pocket BUT, if you want/need the extra length and like the basic design of the Native and don't mind the extra weight/size and prefer the compression lock vs lock back, there's nothing wrong w/the Shaman as a general purpose EDC.

On the other hand, the SpydieChef is a specifically designed to cut/slice food. The Ti makes it thin/strong/light at 3.8 oz . The 3 3/8" curved LC200N steel (which emulates the shape of a chef's knife which permits a smooth rocking motion while slicing) is virtually impervious to corrosion which is important if you are using it for what it is designed to be used for, particularly if you are slicing citrus or other acidic foods. However, I do not think the blade design makes it as suitable as an EDC as compared w/the Shaman but it's thin/lightweight design makes it much more comfortable to carry than the Shaman.

Pick the one that suits your needs best and, if you can't decide which that is, then buy them both. LOL! ;)

Apples to oranges. They serve different purposes. I have a Spydiechef I used to carry for EDC. I've leaned heavily towards working knives lately and wish I had a Shaman.

I’ve had both. I like the Shaman better. The SpydieChef was just fine, but I didn’t think I’d ever rather carry it more than my Stretch, so after a few months, I sold it.

never thought I'd put my manix 2 away...then I got a shaman in rex 45...absolutely frickin awesome knife...looking to get another in dlc cruwear maybe...if u want a beefy worker the shaman is a good one

If a person wanted a folding knife to field dress an elk gutless, I can't think of a better option than the Spydiechef. From any manufacturer. It has been on my want list for a long time.

I have the Spydiechef, great knife, titanium, great geometry, great uber stainless. I don't have the Shaman, it a Spyderco, so an awesome knife, but the chef got my vote.

I have both and they’re very different knives. The Shaman is a great hard use folding Spyderco. The spydiechef is cool for being a folding chef knife that is practically corrosion proof but I have other titanium frame locks that I prefer when I don’t need the corrosion proofing (I rarely do need it).

I like them both but the Shaman gets my vote because it is more useful to me and, as a result, gets carried much more frequently.

They are both excellent and two of my favorite Spydercos. They are my two favorite non-backlock Spydies. The blade shapes are very different and positive vs negative blade angle in addition to differences in weight, edge length, lock, clip, materials, aesthetic, choil, ease and depth of carry.

They are so different I wouldn't choose one over the other without knowing the specific applications anticipated.

You also can't go wrong with either if you know what you are after and what you're getting.

I'm glad the Spydiechef exists because I always hear complaining about "wanting a thinner knife", even from people that have knives like the Delica (which is already thinner than it used to be). I mean, I don't want thick stock like a Tops knife usually, but if you want extremely thin from a design thats already out, like the delica, then beg for a different and similar knife, because most people like it how it is. Or if you want super thin and slicey get a traditional or a food knife like a pearing knife or something.

Personally I'm thrilled the Shaman was made just like it is. Its very slicey and yet robust enough when you use a beefier knife. The flat grind was a good choice. Not every knife needs to be razor blade thin to cut well. This one, especially with the compression lock, makes it kinda close to a fixie that you can clip to your pocket. I feel the shaman really filled a gap in spydercos lineup and I'm excited to see it and hope it sticks around.

The spydiechef is really popular and rightfully so. Nice lines, makes me think of a chefs knife while still being pocketable and handy for EDC tasks.

I want both to stick around, and I hope not to see changes beyond aesthetics.
