The chef will stay in my collection due to the niche attributes and the performance is great, plus I love to cook, chopping and slicing anything I can justify and then eat so it’s a pleasure to have it. The shaman, while of course is fully capable in the kitchen, seems more practical for broader use...don’t bring a Spydiechef to a knife fight :)

Both are fun.

I have both, like both, but I carry the Spydiechef about 95% more than the Shaman.

For my typical light EDC the Spydiechef is better and easier to carry. I like them thin and light and slicey and with a wire clip.

If I was a tradesman it may have been the other way around. The Shaman is a bit of a beast.

The Shaman would be a much better knife if they didn’t put that massive steel chunk back spacer in it and went with standoffs. That’s a big reason why I haven’t bought one; I’ve been close several times and each time I hold it I just think “no, too heavy”.

The back spacer balances the knife nicely. The weight suits the purpose of the knife, and is not a big problem when clipped to jeans etc.

It’s not a knife to carry with gym shorts!
