Ok guys I know that this isn't exactly a mens department question but I'll give it a try. The summer and fall heat can really give your hair the "frizzys" and after a 100 bottles of haircare products that say they will keep you from looking like a used q-tip by the end of the day-they don't. Moisturizers that go on under your makeup can be the equalivent of about a half a teaspoon of cooking oil also at the end of the day. So, what do you guys do to keep a fresher looking you all day? Any hints I'll take into consideration.

Beer. :D :D :D

Beer Mr. Collucci? I know to drink plenty of fluids so my skin won't dry out but I never thought that beer would be the answer. Gee I have to run machinery and do the gopher this, gopher that type of thing alot so it could have an impact on work and my drivers license...any other way?

I,m old and a curmudgeon and try to look as mean as possible so I don't have the problem. However there are things that harm the hair . When you have poor diet [hair is a protein], perm it, bleach it,over dry it, use harsh shampoo, leave it in the sun for hours, have a tight ponytail [40 years ago this was found to damage roots and cause hair loss] these all contribute to having a bad hair day.

I use Aveda Rosemary Mint shampoo and conditioner. Two separate products. It is refreshing due to the rosemary essential oil and the conditioner doesn't leave my hair feeling greasy.
Only stuff I use.

As I understand moisturizers, the principle is to keep moisture in the skin, not to grease it up. But I'm always wrong about stuff :)
I think one of the consumer mags has Vaseline Intensive Care rated well.
I use Elaria Avacado & Lemongrass. Tho I should look at a recipe incorporating essential oils. It's easy enough to blend your own. I do this frequently for massage mixtures.

Have you tried leaving a hair conditioner in your hair?? Wash, rinse, condition, rinse, a little condition, leave it in.
Worth a try.

Nioxin - shampoo and conditioner. My wife and I both use them. The conditioner has a lot of peppermint or something in it which has a nice cooling effect on the scalp, great for summer.

For a facial moisturizer and sunblock (for my fair Irish skin in sunny SoCal  ) - Eucerin Extra Protective with SPF 30. I tried a lot of stuff and this is the best for me, and not greasy at all.

100 bottles? The problem is clear: you're using to much hair care product!

Aveda is the answer. My older brother has very little hair left. My younger brother and I had plenty of hair. Then, when I saw him this summer, he's got a huge bald spot! I said, "Are you still using Aveda?" His answer was no, his new wife had changed him to something else. Me and my Avada are still going strong. Yes, my front hairline has receeded a bit -- well, a lot -- but I have no bald spot which both of my brothers now sport. I credit Aveda... and beer... and Scotch... and gin... and Vodka... and Whiskey... and rum... and brandy... and you get the idea.

Tell your barber that you want him to cut the top as short as possible and still be flat and that you want a #1 on the sides. Wash with Pert or whatever other shampoo is around. Towel dry. The flattop - never in style, never out of style.

Oh, and never refer to shampoo as "product".

I've been getting my infrequent haircuts at an "Aesthetics salon" because it's close to the house and I'm in a small town. The lady does a great job with my hair, but she keeps trying to sell me on some sort of "product" for it. Of course, every time she says it like that, I can't help but think of the movies where the cocaine cartel overlords are sitting around their conference table and discussing moving their "product" across the border. I then snicker quietly to myself and politely decline. :D

I've used Pantene Pro-V successfully on hair and beard, but my hair's not especially frizzy, so your mileage may vary.

Cindy,

Here's my hair care routine:

1. Buy Remington clippers.

2. Apply topically to head on a weekly basis.

At 1/16th of an inch long, my hair can be as frizzy and flyaway as it wants!

Aveda or Nioxin are 2 I have never heard about or rest assured I'd have them..where do you get them? Poor diet, I have been on a diet and lost 11 pounds but I feel better. Blades, that is a good idea reconditioning. Maximus, Frank, and Temper...I'm a girl, I love Anne Lennox but I don't want to look like her. And Mete, are you sure you aren't the lady I take to church every Sunday incognito are you??? Foxhole, I have Pantene and it is a 'good thing' (notice, didn't say product)the heat here is extreme and between that and a hairdyer I can't win. Please let me know where to get the Aveda or the Nioxin if it's not too much trouble. :)

I even remember reading about an old recipe for home-made shampoo that involves raw eggs and beer...or something like that. Supposed to make your hair look silky and all that.

I do pretty much the same as Maximus, plus I water it every day(when I shower). Grows back just fine, only thing is, it's gray.

Guys, this might be the most difficult crisis Bladeforums has ever faced. We are men! We don't know anything about curing the frizzies; all most of us know to tell women about their hair is DON'T CUT IT!!!

But we gotta help our friend Cindy. We don't know how, but we gotta. Whatever shall we do???

I have a plan.

Think of all the women you know. Who has the most beautiful hair? Ask her how she does it!

If you don't know a woman with beautiful hair, go out and look for one! Look in singles bars, look in the classified ads, look on the street and in the post office, everywhere you go look for a woman with beautiful hair, and when you find her ask her what shampoo and conditioner she uses -- and write it down so you won't forget, and post it in this thread.

I did my bit -- I already emailed the woman with the most beautiful hair I know, and when she answers I'll post again. Now you guys do your bit!

Good Evening All-

The tempo and cadence of these two speeches is very similar. Cougar Allen, you may have some English Prime Minister in your heritage and never knew it!

"...We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender..."

Aveda is a great, great, natural body care products company. Not what they used to be after their purchase by Estee Lauder, but still good products nonetheless (I'm in the business, and not a metrosexual).

My recommendation is Aveda shampoo for dry hair. Kind of a honey color and consistency, and their rosemary mint conditioner. I would use this combo every other day, and traditional African black soap on the off days.
