I am trying to find a smaller sized fixed blade for EDC. While on my quest I was shown a knife by Shane Sibert. I have never seen any of his work and a search on the forums didn't turn up anything. It has become one of my top contenders in my search. Does anyone know anything about his knives?

The knife is great. Cool design and excellent craftsmanship. I especially like the ergonomics. The handle fits my (rager large) hand nicely and the low sitting blade with the thumbrest give very good control. What's not visible from this picture is that the blade is thinly ground towards the tip. This makes the knife a good penetrator and slicer but of coure limits the ability to take abuse. It ain't a sharpened prybar, but cutting it does very well ;) The knife itself is also very light and due to this and its size easy to carry.

This brings me to the sheath, the only backdraw. Obviously made by someone familiar with handgun holsters (from the maker's mark on the back) it holds the knife well, but that's where it ends. It is almost impossible to put the knife back with one hand, let alone close the strap with the snap button. I already modified the original and turned it into a slip sheath by cutting the strap off. At one point I will send it to Frank Sigman for a nice Kydex multi carry sheath.

Overall I like the design so much, I'm thinking about getting a little bigger (and thicker) version from Shane. Maybe with a straight spine, inline with the top of the handle. This will elevate the point and give the blade some more belly.

If you want different scans, just let me know.
