Forged this guy at Aldo's hammer in awhile back, picked it back up and tweaked it today, bit different shape, let me know what you think, 1075 from ALDO.

Very unique. It looks a bit delicate where the handle meets blade.

13 3/4" long
4 3/4" handle
9 1/4"ish blade
1 1/2" wide

It's 1/4" by 1/2" at the part where the handle meets the blade, couldn't bend it there if I tried by hanging on it, which I did.

Very cool, kinda has a Chefs fighter look to it!

Looks cool Sam. Good job! :)

It does look a bit weak ("visually"), or pinched in too sharply, at the blade to handle transition area. Maybe a bit too angular or choppy looking there. I'm only saying that because you asked though.

I think you are definitely on the right track with the design concept, which is probably more important than every little detail in the long run.

I like it a lot.

I like the shape. What kind of grind are you planning for the bevels? Got any special plans for the top section (swedge, hooks, cutting edges)?

I like shape a lot, though Tai does have a point. Harpoon bowie sounds like a good description to me.

Just a thought...

"Repetition of form"

A little less abrupt transition and tied in with point.

Thanks guys!

Tai, I see what you are saying, but to me that would make it look like a ricasso, which would take away from the overall design.

Tryppyr, flat ground, though there is enough meat all around for a hollow.

Looks like it would easily dispatch other to the after life:)

Nice lines

A full-tang harpoon tip knife, eh?:rolleyes:...........:confused:hmmmmmm.........:eek::D.... POON-TANG!;):thumbup:

Rick Marchand you win.

I started grinding, I was wondering everyone's opinion so far on if I should grind the back edge or leave it:

I too believe your handle "LOOKS" too thin near the blade. This will be a deadly knife to have around but I believe it's very much reaching into the art stuff. More wideth at the handle just might let it look lots better. Frank

I think it looks fine at the handle/ricasso junction..... good place for a turk's head knot.

Maybe raise the grind at the tip like this..
