What button locks have you all got?

Currently just the Malibu, but I do really like the button lock on it.

I ask because I like them. I read of an original black failings a light spine tap test.
I’ll do a spine tap with my Original when I get back to it in a few days. I’ve only had it for a few days but it seems to lock up solid. I don’t think a properly constructed button lock is prone to failure, but at the same time, I use all my folders like they’re a slipjoint.

I just got one in the mail today ordered from the exchange fast delivery great seller no fault of his own. It failed the first light spine tap and the next and next etc..... I have heard it happened before so I think it's a problem with these.

It incorporates what I call the cheap crap compromise grind (high angle for tight lockup with crap retention you knife manufacturers know exactly what I am talking about too) on the blade where the button (plunger) goes into. Instead of fitting precisely it's edge rests on a small portion of the ramp. This makes factory quality control easier since it will always slide into a tight position giving the illusion of good lockup until it slips when something is tapped and your fingers are injured.

I hate crap locks. I would not give this to anyone.

I'm sorry you got a lemon. This doesn't match my experience with Kizer knives, and I've been through dozens of them. I beat up Kizer all the time for weak detents, but never the lock-up. This hasn’t been my experience with a factory fresh model at all. Given that this is a used knife and it doesn't support the experience of many reviewers, have you considered that this may be an outlier? How can you be so certain this used knife wasn't abused in some way? I may have to look again, but I'm not sure there's a way for the lock to sit on the ramp, it can drop behind the tang or not. That's kinda the way button locks are designed.

Could you share some pictures of the "crap" grind and lockup you're seeing?

Again, I'll be happy to test mine with a spine whack and post videos, but I'm on week 8 of 8 weeks on the road and don't have access to all my knives.
