What button locks have you all got?
Thanks for sharing your opinion. Good luck with your knives. There is another being sold on the exchange with the full disclosure that it does the same. Mine does too
When Swaggs first went to SMKW, they released a limited number of these in conjunction with her first appearance for the store. I was lucky to grab one.So where did you get that natural micarta Kizer Swaggs?
I too would like to see disassembly pics and maybe vid of failure. I thknk it would be of value to this board, and for me, i have been thinking of ordering an Original since i have enjoyed the Civivi Altus so much.I'm sorry you got a lemon. This doesn't match my experience with Kizer knives, and I've been through dozens of them. I beat up Kizer all the time for weak detents, but never the lock-up. This hasn’t been my experience with a factory fresh model at all. Given that this is a used knife and it doesn't support the experience of many reviewers, have you considered that this may be an outlier? How can you be so certain this used knife wasn't abused in some way? I may have to look again, but I'm not sure there's a way for the lock to sit on the ramp, it can drop behind the tang or not. That's kinda the way button locks are designed.
Could you share some pictures of the "crap" grind and lockup you're seeing?
Again, I'll be happy to test mine with a spine whack and post videos, but I'm on week 8 of 8 weeks on the road and don't have access to all my knives.
Oh yea, I'm familiar with the Smock, I just don't like the way it looksgooeytek , Sounds like you'd like the Spyderco Smock. I have one and absolutely love it. Non-auto button lock (I think Spyderco calls it their button compression lock), has thumbhole and small but effective flipper.
I’ve spine whacked my Original with no trace of failure. I can see how if the blade wasn’t fully opened to engage the lock, with only the friction of the plunger holding it “open”, the lock could “fail” but at that point it’s obvious the knife isn’t 180 degrees. This would really be operator error. It’s an operator error that can happen with almost any kind of lock.I too would like to see disassembly pics and maybe vid of failure. I thknk it would be of value to this board, and for me, i have been thinking of ordering an Original since i have enjoyed the Civivi Altus so much.
that's a cool scalpel
