Im gonna look into those..

You should. It took me a while to actually start the first one. I kept reading the teasers and blurbs about it and thinking to myself "Wait... the main character is a lute player... Meh, maybe later... or not..." Classic case of misjudging a book by its cover that I was very quickly corrected on with some actual reading.

Another recommendation for the Kingkiller Chronicles here. The girl I was dating at the time gave me a copy of The Name of the Wind after I got her started on A Song of Ice and Fire. Loved it. Had The Wise Man's Fear ordered before I finished it. Unfortunately, now I'm waiting for The Doors of Stone to come out just like everyone else. So many questions that need answered...

Yea for a trilogy that was supposedly completed when the first one released, I'm baffled at the 5+ year wait between books! Hopefully next year!

Sanderson said the new Stormlight book will be out next year!

I'm actually finishing a re-read of the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson just to refresh some stuff on the new books he has written in that world.

I tried The Sword of Truth and finished the original series, but he gets too preachy in some of the books that I couldn't bring myself to re-read them to remember all of the stuff when he continued the series.

Peter V Brett is another good one.

Brent Weeks is another good one. I have really enjoyed his latest series.

Also, so far, I have liked the Jack Reacher books (have read 3 so far).

I'm trying to catch up on a lot of reading here in Puerto Rico that I didn't have much opportunity for in Nebraska before I start working again

"The Stand" by Stephen King and Narrated by Grover Gardner.

I'm partial to Stephen King books and I read "The Stand" some time ago. I decided to revisit this novel in audio format and it was really amazing. Gardner does an outstanding job narrating and has tons of different voices for all the characters.

I do warn you that it's a 1500 page book and and 50+ hour audiobook though so know what you are getting yourself into.

I've listened to a couple of Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen novels. 43 hours and 45 hours respectively, definitely get your $ worth there. The narrator's voice was irritating when doing female dialogue at first but I've gotten used to it now. For me, the series is head and shoulders above any fantasy work out there.

I don't like much by Brandon Sanderson but the new series he's working on is off to a good start. Joe Abercrombie and Mark Lawrence are great, Jim Butcher's Dresden series is lighter but still very fun. George Martin books are good but I don't think I'll be buying any more, too irritated with how slow the release schedule is.

If I don't find anything that looks interesting by the time I finish the last Erikson book I think I'll pick up some Frank Herbert stuff, hopefully Dune got treated well in the audiobook department.

Jonathan Maberry writes some pretty good Zombie/Action/Survival series

All are on Audio Books. All of these series take place in the same universe with cross overs and cameos of characters from the other series.

Joe Ledger Series: My favorite of all his writings. Mostly takes place long before the full zombie apocalypse. Includes Zombies, Bio-terrorism, Evil scientists genetically engineering beasts, secret societies, special operations, and so much more.

Rott and Ruin Series: Meant for a younger crowd, but is entertaining and a great read for everyone. Enjoyed his perspective on life after the zombie apocalypse.

Dead of Night Series: Pre-Rott and Ruin. Another wonderful series that is a great addition to R&R.

Pine Deep Trilogy: I'm finishing up this set right now. Really like it.

The Monster Hunter books by Larry Correia, if you don't mind a little language. Lots of zombies, vampires, werewolves and other assorted monsters.

I can only shudder at how long it took to do The Dark Tower books

I liked the dark tower books a lot as well. Lots of references to his other work in there. Mr King wrote another one that fits in between books 4 and 5 of the series AFTER it was supposed to be done and I'd read it. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Robdude took my only two recommendations: "Arisen" (book 12 on Kindle due for release in September), and "Day by Day."

I bought all the DbD in paperback, but Arisen on Kindle. Arisen is good enough that I am planning on getting the entire series on paperback, too. Also, by that same author, D-Boys is good. He also recommends other books at the end of each of his. Ive picked up a couple of those, and they are good, too.

The Game of Thrones audio books lasted for two semesters of commuting to school. If that's your thing... It's worth a listen.

Listened to season 2 of "Serial" on a long drive last week. Very good.

Currently listening to "Republic of Pirates" by Colin Woodard. Very interesting true history of the golden age of piracy in the Caribbean.

Both :thumbup::thumbup:
