Hi All,

I was just sitting here and reflected back to one of the first post's I put on the Buck forum many years ago. I asked folks here at the time to post/respond and show me their buck knife displays. Not one member posted anything....made me feel like a new be outcast at the time:(.

So today after many more years under my life's bridge I'll try again. Come on folks, one and all, please post some photo's of your knife display. Anything you want to post for my/our enjoyment will do, your display could be a single knife on a shelf, or a big cabinet full of stuff, a store bought set up, a custom set up, or a hand made set up. Anything and everything will do.

Here are some old pic's of my set up. I should state that none of the case's/cabinets look the same inside as they did at the time of these photo's. I keep changing out the knives and moving things around.

JB with a stunning display like yours, I hesitate to even put a few of my knives up as "displays."

The first picture is a complete collection of barrel nut 100 series knives with the addition of a spine stamp 121. That collection also includes the early 210 twinset (110 (later renumbered 103 and a 102).

The second picture is a complete set of 100 serie BUCK pinned pommel knives.

The third picture is a grouping from the past, 3 years ago, of 124s. That number has doubled since then.

They pale in comparison to your elegant display.

Come on folks keep the post's comming. ITE, where is a pic of that new display set up of your's? RBasil, please add your display photo all the way from Russia! 300, how about some slippies! So what do you say Buck lovers, bring this thread to life, by posting a photo.

Sorry Jb...I don't have a display out of fear of theft. Mine stay locked up in a safe unless they are a user or get out for a photo shoot:( My brothers house was broken into twice this past month...and he collects and displays (not anymore) guns.

I do enjoy seeing everyone's displays. Very impressive so far!!!

How about a sneak preview of a SPS pic?

Telly's display is also a mind-blower. It's funny, you know these guys have a lot of knives, but it's really amazing when you actually SEE these displays!!!!!

I am humbled by the sheer magnitude.

No, I don't have enough to post anything, but I appreciate the pics and it's interesting to see the different and attractive wooden cabinets, cases and other methods used to display all these beautiful knives.

I'm a sucker for oak myself.

Only because JB asked.

I am guessing JBs display is in a office room or man room....... ~(;- )
I favor Tony's attitude, I keep 98% of my knives in a gun safe. I give myself one old upright Buck counter display to hold some 303s and a small shelving unit I made with 14 TL-29s in it. 300s can be displayed but they favor more the one on one, out of the pocket, handed over to look at sort of activity. The old style of showing each other your knife socialization. In some farm cultures, showing knives and swapping was a rite of the lands. Some would short-change this custom by carrying a cheap and good knife and always show the cheap.
I collect a whole range of stuff, some things to use in photos, stuff I find or pick-up that brings back a memory. So my limited man space is quite full of visual stimulus. Or crap as my female zookeeper calls it.....ha. If I was going to have them out I would want cabinets like JB with door locks to stop little people and internal lights for my enjoyment. So that at night you could darken the room with you knife lights glowing, while you check the BF posts on your computer.

As is the case in all things, display can mean different things to different people, when I first read the title I thought it was about a display at a knife show.
Here is mine from last years Blade Show.
300BucksWEB-1.jpg

Mine is only one table, small as major collectors might think, most are two or three tables in size.

I don't think Larry Oden would mind me showing you his prise winning display. Very slick and well made. Remember, BCCI has big footprint at Blade Show, it would be worth travel if you can swing it.

Just like JBs cabinets we all have our allotted space and the minds eye of what we would like to do. I collected three upright counter displays over about 5 year of effort. I built my own bottom units modeling off of the old Buck flat counter display. I had seen some displays at gun shows and photos on BCCI website and was helped along by emails from several BCCI members. You get the basic idea going then you put it up on the kitchen table, with cardboard and cloth protection, and go from there. Here is a photo of the first time all together kitchen look. Just so you know , even though no two knives are alike there still need to be ~ 25 more to be a complete collection of pre 1990 300s. Twenty of those I still don't have.
EarlyDisplay.jpg

If this interests you the BCCI is going to attmept to broaden out to some smaller shows, I promised David Martin, I would come to the NM show next spring where we will put up the BCCI banner. It does not take a big display to show up and be a part of the event. Several small displayers are at the Buck area at the Blade Show and have a good time. I was a woodworker before I was a knife collector, you don't have to be. There are some really nice and affordable display flats from several sources. Help is just a click away. Think about it. Sorry JB for getting on the club high horse.

PS Actually I don't have any display area, because my allotted man space is taken up with my photo light box that I leave up all the time.

Very nice displays guys! Sorry JB, I don't have a display up either. I used to, but I prefer to use most of mine. I took it down to "rearrange" about 2 years ago, and when I got home one day, well, my wife had her Boyds Bears collection in it...
I could take a picture of the case they used to reside in though :D

Thanks for the awesome 300 display photo's Craig & for Larry's award winning display shot (Very nice work on your handmade cabinets)!

2Tonyb, very nice display shot of the YH stag 110.

2Tony & Jim, As stated in the OP:
" Anything you want to post for my/our enjoyment will do, your display could be a single knife on a shelf, or a big cabinet full of stuff, a store bought set up, a custom set up, or a hand made set up. Anything and everything will do."

So guys the way I see it, a single knife set up for a photo is a set up for a 'display shot". The photo you share is the knife on display!

Where are the display shots from HK, EEE, 110dave, PBD, Flat, and everyone else?

EEE,

It was a sad day for me when I heard the next Blades of Steel Show was moving east. I had visions of you guys, maybe DM and I could get a SouthWest division BCCI displaying division going and bring in more Buck guys. Maybe someone will try another go on a show someday. If so I am willing to try......300Bucks

My wife took one look at it and said "You know you have room left".
She answered in the negative when I asked if that meant I could go buy more.:D

Ok, thanks Craig--I'll follow suit. Great knives and displays guys. Earl in your photo which is you and which is Jerry.? Craig, I thought you went to that show in Dallas? There is such a small number of guys which display and are on BladeForum, many more display and we don't see them here. Just read the Newletter. Yet their knowledge would be of great benefit here. Its always more fun when one other club member shows up. One member at a show will have fun with two its a barrel of monkeys. There are many guys displays nicer than mine... I just go to talk Buck Knives. Thanks guys for the handsome knives. DM

But, please note I think JBs original intent was to show how or if you display Buck knives in you home. Which I am sorry for diverting.
More response might happen if everyone felt better about security. There are some places left in this USA where display in a living room is still a very low risk action. If you live there I envy you. Cause usually the good hunting and fishing is there also.

I don't really have any great pictures of my displays but here are a few. so far I haven't been able to get a good picture of the new oak display case so that will come later.

Hi Craig,
Only at home? No Sir, not my intent at all. You see fellas, a display means or is different to each of us. Some of us have displays set up at home, some only set up a display for shows and not at home, maybe some do both, or a display set up for a photo. It's a sad fact of life and the times we live in that some can't set up a display due to thieves:(. I was hoping that everyone would post some kind of photo in this thread. You see to me any photo of a knife or knives is in a way is a display of your knife/knives. It does not matter whether it's at home, at a show, in your yard, or at a store, or in the woods.

I don't have a display for the shows and in fact have never been to a knife show as they are just to far away for me to justify the cost of travel & lodging. So seeing you show goer's displays is wonderful and thought provoking. In the same way seeing how someone sets up a display for a single knife photo gets me to thinks how I can set up for better photo's. I'm also enjoying seeing how other folks have cabinets or boxes set up. I keep looking at 2TonyB's odd rock in his shot next to his DY 110, it's just way cool! so please keep this thread alive and post any and all 'knife displays".
