These slim pocket friendly folders are some of our oldest Traditional patterns. They are called Pen, Half Whittler and Half Congress, just to name a few. Sleeveboard, Equal End, Serpentine and Congress all come to mind when I think of these knives. Regardless of the size or pattern I am willing to bet that you all have one or more. I am also willing to bet that just like myself they are some of your favorite Traditionals! So please, share you love and your thoughts and most of all your photos. Please add any additional patterns because I know I have missed some.

I will start this thread off with one of my newest. This one is a Tidioute 66 Calf Roper Slim with Purple Sage Jigged Bone handles. It is a Equal End Serpentine folder. At 3-1/2", it has California Clip main and. Pen secondary blades of 1095 Carbon Steel.

Fine bone, fine pattern there Ron. 66 Slim is an easy and desirable carry.

This is what I think is the finest SFO so far, Lyle's Lick Creek 38 Farmer's Jack. Sensational execution and build-quality, no blade play or rub (difficult in a 2 blade 1 spring knife) and a nice long secondary Spey & Budding blade. I use and carry it a lot.

Here's a previous thread which contains some examples too.

Böker do a very tidy knife and the Pen is a must have, nice offering Leg

Bob You have a very nice latest edition indeed! Mine has unfortunately, a few issues but it's an interesting and old single-spring two blades pattern.

Thanks, Will

Will. That's an excellent example of the single spring and two blades. I have several of the pattern. My apologies for not being able to find your previous thread. I searched for a couple of days to no avail. :( Thanks!

Ron Searching is a kind of lottery/ Russian Roulette here:eek: I just knew cos I started it :D But any revival of a single spring thread is a lottery win in my book

I admire the pattern more than any other, although not to the exclusion of others. It takes a whole gamut of cutler skill to nest those blades in a small space. Plus, it aint heavy in the pocket either and that's a big bonus for me at least.

Here's Queen Cutlery's Muskrat. This is singe-spring (as Muskies SHOULD be ) nice ACSB scales and D2 blades. I've handed out criticism to Queen before now for shoddy finish -my latest knife from last year is frankly appalling :barf: - but when it's good, their knives are deeply impressive. This Muskrat is one of them, it's stellar in finish and fit.

Hoffrtiz -Germany tang stamp. Half congress.

I admire that one a lot, compelling knife!

Here's my Hoffritz Pen. It has unusual Sabre master and sunk-joints. Glennbad re-handled this old one for me, but unfortunately, it has developed centre-pin cracks on both sides. 3.5" closed, I've been trying to get a Custom maker interested in doing me a copy/interpretation of this, but no success. Too difficult?:rolleyes::D

Great idea for a thread, Ron!
Here's a few of mine.
Case-Bose Norfolk. (I like your Norfolk, Bob!)
Rick Menefee Half Congress.
Schrade-Kious Reverse Half Congress.

Gary A most unusual Half Congress, great interpretation!

GEC's 68 White Owl pleases me and I'm lucky to have quite a few examples. Here's one that Paul -pmew - gave to me as a present in the autumn. Very generous of him, he is a big-hearted man of principle. Thankfully, he removed that bloody bail/shackle before he gave it to me :D Another of our mutual positions. This is very dark Coco almost black, could pass for Ebony no problem.

Liked to see that one with Spear, all mine are Clip master.

Here's a Shadow Horn from Robert Klaas, Germany. 3.5" All stainless construction c-1950s I believe

Great thread Ron, I very much appreciate the sleekness and utility of a two blade knife on a single spring.

This one is another of my recent additions. It amazes me how effortlessly a 4-1/8" folder can slip into the pocket when it is this sleek and slim! With that big ole clip blade and those silky smooth cam tangs this pattern has become one of my favorites. I have a couple more different examples of this pattern that I have never photographed, YET! This is a Northfield TK Cuban in Natural Stag.
