Share your tips, hollow grinding straight razor?

I always profile first, these get ground so thin that it would be awkward to profile after. The edge is also not perfectly straight but slightly rounded. I like using the work rest. W-2 is a great choice but you’ll need to rough grind first because it is a shallow hardening steel.

Thanks, much obliged.

D DevinT Some progress. I first squared the spines of my profiles as accurately as possible.
Then I setup my rest so that the edge of the blade lines up with the wheel axis (2.5" wheel).
I was able to grind them very evenly at least down to 0.04" before heat treat.
Pushing it straight into the wheel, keeping the spine flat on the rest made it easier than I feared.
I must say that setting the calipers to 0.005" and imagining doing the rest has me a little nervous...

maybe im in the big minority here but, i like to grind fully heat treated blades..
i have a couple Razors i ground close before heat treat ,the clean up took the last 5 or so thou off wonderfully..
used a 8 inch on both ,might do some on a 10 i got.. what thickness to start ?? mine were like 4mm (Same as some i bought years ago )
from 160 ish to nothing easy peasy...

I don't mind grinding after HT, but in this case I'm going for a hamon in the W2.
I've been reading up a little about these razors. The spine and edge are held on the stone during honing to enforce a fixed angle. This means that the height and thickness are important as together they define that angle. Mine are 1/4" thick and about 6/8 (0.75") in height.

i think mine were 154c.m or elmax..
i was not going for a hamon ,, Could be Cool is stainless "San Mai " like Damacore. or we got "Devin" to make us something cool with a core!! (Partially joking"

I got the first one fitted up with the handle.
I had to do some more grinding after I thought I was done.
I measured the angle I was going to have and it was around 22 degrees inclusive which is supposedly too steep for a good shave.
I found that my stock was thicker than I thought (0.260"), so I ground them down to 0.220", but this brought the bevel height down also, so I walked that back up.
Now I have about 17 degrees on all 5 razors which is supposed to be in a good range for shaving.
The edges are all around 0.005" and ready for sharpening.
The first handle is ivory micarta. It has a nice look and feel.
I might force the patina on the washers and pins, but I'm happy with the snug fit and slightly stiff open/close.
I guess this was my first folder.
